Alexander's pov:
I'd been looking for Elektra all morning. No trace of her. Worry gnawed at the edges of my mind. Had something happened? Was she avoiding me?
I finally stopped a passing omega girl in the hall. "Can you do me a favor?" I asked.
"Yes, sir. Of course," she answered quickly, eager to please.
"Please tell Miss Elektra I'm waiting for her in the library."
"I will, Alpha."
I waited by the tall windows of the library, nestled into one of the old armchairs, staring out over the dense forest beyond the estate. The morning sun filtered through the canopy, casting shifting shadows across the floor. Still, no sign of her.
Minutes later, the same omega girl returned, breathless. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I couldn't find her anywhere."
I sighed, disappointed. So this is how it ends.
Just then, Steve entered.
"Alex, it's time. We have to go."
"I know," I said quietly, standing up.
As we walked down the corridor, I spotted the same omega girl again. A sudden thought struck me.
"Wait—can you do me one more favor?" I asked her.
"Of course, Alpha."
"Steve, your pen?"
Steve raised an eyebrow but handed it over without question. He's old-fashioned, always scribbling notes instead of texting.
I found a scrap of paper and quickly wrote a note. My fingers hesitated for a second before pressing the pen down.
Dear Elektra,
I'm really sorry to say goodbye this way. I searched for you all morning but couldn't find you.
I want you to know I had a great time, and I truly hope we meet again soon.
Take care of yourself.
I already miss you.
—Alexander
"Give this directly to Miss Elektra. No one else. Understood?"
"Yes, Alpha. I'll make sure of it," she said, bowing and hurrying away.
A strange sense of relief settled in me. At least I hadn't left without saying goodbye.
But as I stepped outside, ready to leave, a heaviness fell over me. It wasn't just sadness—it was like part of me had been left behind. My wolf stirred, restless.
There's more to this than you think, he growled quietly.
"I know," I whispered.
Before heading back to the Silver Dawn Pack, I made a decision. I needed to see Esmeree.
She was more than just a witch. My parents had protected her from death the day she was born. A prophecy had marked her for greatness—and danger. After our pack was attacked, she vanished into hiding. Like me, hunted. But unlike me, she had answers.
Steve drove in silence through the forest until I raised my hand.
"Stop here," I said.
He glanced at me. "You sure this is wise? You've been taking more risks lately."
"I need to see her. It's important."
"You want me to wait?"
"No. Head back. I'll meet you at the pack."
