Elektra's pov:

The news of my father's escape spread through the werewolf community like an atomic bomb. Panic rippled through every pack—fear, worry, and uncertainty hung heavy in the air. Everyone either knew or at least suspected what my father intended now that he was free.

Knowing him, I was almost certain he would seek revenge on the prosecutors who had thrown him in prison. I can't say I agree with that—it's not my place to judge—but I can't deny I understand the urge for vengeance. I don't know what I would do if I were in his shoes. All I can do is hope he finds the strength to let it go, to choose peace instead of destruction.

When news of the prison break reached the Council, their guards and warriors arrived en masse, camping near our territory, eyes sharp and ready to capture him. Our pack was swarming with weapons, strict new rules, and countless prohibitions. The others were restless—fed up with how the Council and neighboring packs treated us like suspects rather than kin. I tried to calm them, but my words fell on deaf ears. They demanded respect, privacy—the very things I struggled to provide amid this chaos.

I, too, resented the Council's heavy-handedness. Their presence felt like a suffocating leash tightening around our necks.

The Council guards stayed for over a week, their vigilance unwavering. Then, just as suddenly as they came, they left—convinced my father wouldn't return. But something inside me whispered otherwise. I knew they were still watching us, lurking in the shadows from a distance.

And my father? Probably aware he was being surveilled, he never attempted to contact me. Fearful that any communication could reveal his location, he chose silence.

Even though I knew Father was a strong man—one with great abilities—I couldn't stop worrying about him. What if he had been hurt? I'd heard he escaped with two other wolves, both notorious for their ruthless deeds. What if they turned on him? What if he'd been betrayed or injured?

But my fears didn't stop with him. I was equally afraid for Alexander's life. Everyone knew it was Alexander's team, working with the Council, that had finally brought Father and Alpha Richard to justice that fateful night in the forest. I was terrified Father might seek revenge on Alexander.

Despite everything, despite the lies Alexander told to implicate Father, I still cared about him. I didn't want any harm to come to Alexander. The thought of losing him—of seeing him fall because of this chaos—was unbearable. My heart would shatter completely.

"You must warn him!" Frostie's voice whispered inside my mind.

"There's no need," I snapped back. "Alexander probably already knows what's happening. He'll have taken measures."

"You don't know that for sure," Frostie insisted. "You should call him. Inform him, before it's too late."

"I'm not going to do it. End of story," I said, irritated.

"You're so stubborn!" Frostie's voice faded, retreating to the back of my mind.

A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. It was David, my Beta since I'd become Alpha of the Black Shadow Pack. Jordan hadn't been thrilled to give up his position to his son, but there was no changing the order now. New Alpha, new rules, new hierarchy.

David and I worked well together. We understood each other deeply, able to communicate with just a glance.

"Hey, Alpha," David greeted me coolly.

"Hello, David. What brings you here at this hour? Shouldn't you be training with the warriors?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I know, but what I have to tell you is more important than training," he said, his tone serious.
