Elektra's pov:
Today marked a significant milestone—Alex was finally leaving the hospital.
I'd spent days planning a surprise party at my apartment, inviting everyone who loved and cared for Alex. I wanted to make his return as joyful as possible after the harrowing ordeal he'd endured. As we drove back to the apartment, Alex reached for my hand, his touch warm and reassuring. When I looked at him, he held my gaze with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine.
-"What would you say," he began, his voice steady but his eyes searching mine, "if our bond was fulfilled?"
I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Words failed me as the meaning of his question sank in. Could he really mean it? I had dreamed of this moment but never dared to believe it would come so soon.
-"I... I..." I stammered, overwhelmed.
Alex's face fell slightly, mistaking my shock for hesitation. "I know," he said softly, his disappointment evident. "I'm rushing things. It's okay if you don't feel ready yet."
-"No!" I exclaimed, gripping his hand tighter. "This isn't about readiness. I... I just can't believe it. That's all. Hearing this from you—it's everything I've ever wanted. I feel wonderful, and I'm thrilled with the idea!"
A wide grin spread across his face, his earlier worry vanishing. "That's wonderful!" he said, his enthusiasm lighting up the car.
We reached the apartment, our fingers intertwined, hearts light with bliss. The moment the door swung open, a wave of cheers and clapping greeted us, echoing through the space like a joyful symphony.
Roxanne rushed forward, her bright smile lighting up her face as she enveloped me in a hug. Behind her, David grinned broadly, giving Alex a firm clap on the shoulder. Alex's mam stood near the center, her eyes glistening with pride, while John and Steve lifted their glasses in salute. Everywhere we looked, familiar faces filled the room, radiating love and excitement.
-"Surprise!" someone shouted, and a ripple of laughter followed.
Alex stepped forward, his hand still holding mine. With a gentle raise of his free hand, he signaled for silence. The buzz of conversation faded, and all eyes turned toward him.
-"First," Alex began, his voice steady and warm, "I want to thank each and every one of you for being here tonight. Your support has meant the world to us, especially during the challenges we've faced. We wouldn't be standing here without you."
A murmur of agreement spread through the room, accompanied by a few nods and murmured "hear, hears."
-"Secondly," he continued, his voice carrying a note of excitement, "I'd like to officially invite all of you to join us this Friday for Luna's ceremony at our pack. It's a moment we've been looking forward to, and it wouldn't feel right without you there."
The room collectively gasped in delight.
"Oh!" Roxanne exclaimed, her hand flying to her chest, and the cheers erupted once again, louder and even more exuberant this time. The atmosphere was electric, a palpable mix of love, pride, and anticipation. I glanced around at the people surrounding us, their faces glowing with joy, and felt a warmth bloom in my chest.
Alex turned to me, his smile soft but full of emotion. Leaning down, he whispered, "You're the reason for all this, you know."
I squeezed his hand, unable to keep the smile from spreading across my face. "No," I whispered back, "we're the reason."
The room buzzed with excitement, and the smiles on everyone's faces made my heart swell. I felt Alex's arm tighten around my waist, grounding me in the moment.
