Alexander's pov:
Hearing the devastating news from Marion my heart broke into several pieces. I run towards Elektra's room to find it empty. The thought that I didn't have the chance to say goodbye to her really devastated me. I stopped a nurse that was passing by.
-"Where is her body? Where did you take her?" I continued to ask in frustration.
-"I am sorry sir but for whom are you talking about?"
-"My fiancee, this was her room. Where is she now?"
-"I really don't know sir. I just started my shift. I'm sorry"
-"Where is she? She can't be dead..." I started to cry out in desperation. My self-control was long gone... Losing Elektra was a huge blow to me. I wasted so much time putting my ego above everything else. Instead of being apart, we could have been together and nothing would have happened to her. She couldn't be dead, I repeated to myself like a mantra.
I was suddenly suffocating. I started roaming the halls like crazy. Elektra's death came like a bolt from the blue. I just couldn't believe that I had lost her so unexpectedly. Suddenly, a hand gently touched me from behind. I turned back and saw Roxanne standing next to me. There was silence for a few minutes. I had no words to comfort her sorrow. She took my hand and led me to one of the chairs placed in the hallway. We sat without talking. Several minutes passed in complete silence. Neither of us was in a good mood.
-"Why did you leave her?" she asked breaking the silence.
-"What?........ I.....I..." I said bowing my head in defeat. I had no good reason to defend myself. She was right! I had left my mate and now she is dead because of me.
-"If you were with her none of this would have happened" she continued with an accusing tone.
-"Please, Roxanne, I understand your sadness, but I can't do it right now... Please..." I protested.
- "This Andros must pay" she said again.
-"Andros? What about him?" I asked.
-"Who do you think is behind Elektra's attack?" she asked rhetorically looking me straight in the eye.
-"Did Andros do this to her?" I asked angrily. She nodded. "Then you can be more than sure he'll pay. I'll make sure for it...." I reassured her.
-"You better do that," Roxanne said, satisfied. Meanwhile, I could feel my blood boiling. How could I have been so naive? Why hadn't I realized this sooner? Of course, Elektra wouldn't have brought this upon herself—someone had done this to her. And that someone was getting away with it.
If it weren't for him, she would still be alive. Without another word, I pushed back my chair and stood abruptly, barely registering Roxanne calling after me. My mind was already made up. I stormed out, my pulse hammering in my ears as I made my way to Andros' apartment.
The city lights blurred past me, my breath shallow, my hands clenched. By the time I reached his building, I could feel the fury burning through me like wildfire. I stepped inside, took the elevator, and watched the numbers climb. A dull chime signaled my arrival.
Seconds later, I stood outside his door.
-"Open up, you coward!" I shouted, pounding on the door with frantic knocks. Silence.
No response.
I clenched my jaw, my frustration mounting with every second that passed. After several minutes of futile attempts, I exhaled sharply and turned away. There was no point in standing here like a fool. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, I descended, my footsteps echoing in the stairwell.
