Alexander's pov:

We returned to our pack yesterday morning—completely exhausted but satisfied. Every decision made was precise and purposeful. Most of the Alphas recognized Bartholomew as a serious threat to our society and were ready to join forces in our effort to capture him and ensure he faces justice.

The only thing that unsettled me was Elektra's behavior. Although she tried to appear calm and composed, I could sense her inner turmoil. It's never easy being in a room where everyone speaks ill of your father and treats you like an enemy. At least she understood the gravity of the situation and seemed to accept the harsh truth: her father is a ruthless criminal.

Later, I shared the news with Mother during dinner. While she was pleased by the bounty, she remained skeptical. She was convinced that despite the high reward, many would still be willing to help Bartholomew evade prison and the consequences that await him.

I couldn't agree more. It would be naive to believe we could catch Bartholomew so easily.

Later that evening, I sat in my office reviewing reports from the border patrols of other packs. Apparently, there had been a lot of unusual activity along the northern border of the Black Shadow Pack yesterday. Something about it just didn't sit right with me.

"Alpha, Miss Cassandra wants to speak with you. Should I let her in?" Jason, my guard, asked as soon as he entered.

"Yes, of course," I replied.

Two minutes later, Cassandra entered. She wore a long white dress, her hair tied up in a neat, pretty bun.

"Hello, Alexander. Sorry to bother you, but I brought you some coffee and a piece of cake I made," she said softly.

"Oh, it smells delicious! Thank you so much, Cassandra. You really didn't have to go to all this trouble," I said gratefully.

"No problem. Please try it and tell me what you think," she said, smiling as she offered me a plate with two generous pieces of chocolate cake.

I took a small bite. The cake was incredible — rich, moist, and perfectly sweet. I devoured the two pieces in the blink of an eye.

"So?" Cassandra asked eagerly, probably wondering what I thought of her baking.

"It tastes wonderful. I've never had chocolate cake this good before! Thank you!" I said sincerely. Beyond her beauty, Cassandra was an excellent cook. My praise made her smile broadly.

"I should go now... I don't want to keep you," she said timidly.

"You don't bother me at all—especially when you bring such delicious treats," I teased, making us both laugh.

She took the empty plate and left my office. I can't deny it — when I'm with Cassandra, I feel calm and carefree. She somehow makes me forget Elektra and all my other troubles. Her presence is like a ray of sunshine in my darkness.

I returned to reviewing reports and preparing the weekly pack schedule when the phone rang. It was my beta, Steve. One of our spies assigned to monitor the Black Shadow Pack had something urgent to report. I picked up.

"Alpha, is that you?"

"Yes, it's me. Now, what's so important?" I asked, not one to waste time.

"Alpha, I noticed strange activity yesterday morning. Some high-ranking members, including their Alpha, were dressed as omegas and headed towards the mountain."

"What? Are you sure?"

"Yes, sir."

"Do you know why they went there?"
