"MUICHIRO!"
hikari throws her arms around the slightly shorter boy, making him stumble back a bit. he smiles warmly and happily hugs the girl back before pulling away.
"guess what?!" hikari excitedly exclaims.
"what?" muichiro asks, an enthusiastic smile on his face.
"my mom said i can stay out a bit longer!" hikari cheers.
"yay!" muichiro yells in excitement.
"also..."
muichiro looks at hikari excpectantly, watching her giddy smile.
she suddenly taps his arm.
"you're it!"

"excuse me, ma'am?"
the woman turns around, looking at hikari curiously.
"i'm looking for my friend his name is muichiro?" hikari nervously asks.
"what does he look like?" the woman asks. hikari quickly explains and the woman sighs.
"i'm sorry."
hikari just sends a sad smile her way and nods. she weaves through the crowd, looking for the next person to ask.
"e-excuse me?"
"piss off, kid."
"ma'am, have you-"
"go on! not interested!"
day in, and day out hikari had to deal with this. and all she wanted was to find her only friend.
she returned home close to dawn. she slipped her zori off by the door, and upon sensing a presence in the hallway, she tilts her head up to see her brother staring at her expectantly, a permanent frown on his face.
she shakes her head sadly, and with no other words, he runs off to his bedroom once more.
"hikari? is that you?"
"yes!" hikari answers her mother. "i'll be there in just a second!"
she runs to the basement, where her bedroom is located. she sees her white apron on the dresser, freshly cleaned and smelling like flowers. she smiles as she slips it on before running back to her mother.
"would you mind getting some of the painkillers from the cabinet, please?"
hikari nods. she opens the cabinet, seeing the variety of medicines- liquid, solid, and powder alike- and the grabs the most abundant painkillers in the bunch.
"did you find him?"
hikari shakes her head sadly. the purple eyed women before her sighs sadly and nods.
