"THIS MAN... IS MUZAN KIBUTSUJI!"

the rest of the hashira gape in awe at gyomei's words, having never seen the demon lord himself. hikari, however, can't bring herself to focus on him.

she focuses on the enraged tamayo that keeps muzan still. her heart pangs at the sight of her mother on the battlefield, a place she never dreamed of such a woman being.

she hasn't the time to think about that. the hashira begin unleashing their consecutive breathing forms just as soon as muzan regrows his head. hikari hangs back, slinking around as she shoots beams of lightning at him. she smells his flesh burning, hears it crackling and ripping open, but the demon lord regenerates before any true damage can be done.

as the hashira close in on the ancient demon held still by lady tamayo, he laughs to himself. a gut-wrenching feeling forms in hikari's heart, forcing her to move torwards muichiro.

doors open beneath everyone. hikari had heard about it- the infinity fortress. the result of a blood demon art of one of muzan's subordinates.

she catches muichiro, holding his back to her chest tightly as they fall through the world. hikari's eyes squeeze shut in fear as her grip on muichiro tightens.

she suddenly yelps as she falls into strong arms. her eyes open, and she looks up to see the stone pillar setting her and muichiro down gently. she takes a look around the fortress, somewhat amazed by what she sees.

it seems as though there are no gravitational laws. she can see demons running along the sides of everything with ease, random hallways and rooms and strange blocks of wood jut out everywhere. she can see other demon slayers in the distance, some of which are already dying.

she turns away when she sees their blood splatter. muichiro yanks her back, nearly forcing her to the ground as he kills a demon that had tried to attack her.

"dammit, why are there so many?!" he grits as he jumps in to the fight with gyomei.

"he's wearing us down." hikari replies. "that's why no demons have been around- he was setting them up for tonight."

"it's bullshit." muichiro replies as gyomei cleaves off several heads in a matter of seconds.

muichiro's mind flashes to kagaya. a man dead at the young age of only 23, all for this cause. a man like a second father so him. a man that encouraged him to keep fighting, that his amnesia would ease up, that he could destroy demons.

muichiro was livid. muzan had done nothing but tear up his entire life. if it weren't for muzan, he would still have his twin brother. if it weren't for muzan, he would never have forgotten his entire life. if it weren't for muzan, he would never had lost the love of his life for three straight years. if it weren't for muzan, kagaya wouldn't have gone out the way he did.

it was all his fault.

hikari electrocutes a demon aiming for muichiro, and gyomei kills it soon after. the three begin running through the infinity castle, cursing muzan as they do so.

even gyomei was angry. if it weren't for muzan, those children in the temple would never have died. he wouldn't have had to save the kocho sisters after their parents had been killed. he wouldn't be here, on what was probably the last night of his life.
