twenty-seven: burn

HIKARI HAD FULLY MOVED INTO MUICHIRO'S ROOM.

she felt bad about it, at first. she knew he liked to sleep with the window open, but if he did that while she was there, the sun would burn her.

nobody wanted that.

hikari hadn't slept in the room with him yet. she had just left shortly after their talk thr previous night, much to muichiro's dismay. she felt a bit guilty afterwards, but she got over it by morning, when training started back up.

she began writing a letter to her mother.

hikari sits gently. the door opens, and she looks up as she puts away the pen and paper. muichiro stands, looking at her curiously.

"i was asking mom when we can see her." she explains. muichiro nods once as hikari folds up the letter. she hears a meow, and chuchumaru appears next to her.

"hello!" she pets him gently, listening as he purrs against her. she slips the letter into the pack on his back, making sure to tie it securely. chuchumaru walks off, meowing once before disappearing yet again.

"that still freaks me out." muichiro says.

"i think it's neat!" hikari giggles, a wide smile on her face. "why aren't you out there training anyone?"

"i hate them."

"oh..."

"so i wanted to see you instead." muichiro says as she sits next to her, criss-cross on the floor. he places his elbows on his knees, his head in his hands, and he leans forward.

"w-what are you doing?" hikari chuckles.

"waiting for you to talk."

"about what?"

"i dunno." muichiro shrugs. "anything. rocks, trees, god."

"oh! i actually got this book!" hikari rushes up, running off to a book she has in a stack of others. she grabs it and runs back over to muichiro, sitting so close their sides touch.

"it's about greek mythology!"

"what is greek?"

"greece is a country." hikari says. "way, way, way on the other side of the world."

"that's far."

"i know! and they have a differet set of beliefs than us, called greek mythology. so, i wanted to learn about it." hikari smiles. "they have a whole bunch of different gods. like, a man named poseidon-"

"that's a really odd name."

"that's what i thought. anyways, a man named poseidon controls the seas, and everything in it. hades is the god of the underworld. you know how we have the sanzu river?" hikari questions, rapidly flipping pages in her book.

"mm-hmm."

"they have something something similar- the river styx."
