SHE COULD FEEL IT IN HER CELLS.

lady tamayo was dead. she could see her final moments. muzan's deadly smirk as he held her head up, his thumb through one of her eyes. hikari could barely see through the sheer amount of blood.

but she could see enough. she could see his plum red eyed with a joyous gleam as he killed her mother in cold blood, not giving a damn as he crushed her head.

yushiro could feel it too, even on the other side of the fortress. he and hikari could feel it when nobody else could, with more emotion that anybody else every could.

her trembling stopped as she fell to the floor, roaring in horror and raw anguish at the loss of tamayo. her fangs were longer than they ever had been before, her eyes turning white all over from sheer rage. she felt an aching hole in her heart at the loss of the most wonderful woman that had ever lived. a piece of herself had been lost that night. that fateful moment when tamayo no longer walked the earth with her daughter.

hikari assumes her full demon form, her eyes glowing with a faint blue glow. she stands up, her irises gone but her vision more clear than it ever had been before. sanemi stares at her horns in horror, and gyomei senses more pain and resentment from her than any being before. not even muzan had such a level of rage within him.

to lightning bolts appear in her hands. she wields them much like inosuke wields his blades- careless and ready to destroy everything in sight. she seethes with rage, steaming tears spewing out of her face.

lady tamayo was dead.

hikari didn't want tamayo in the fight at all. if tamayo had to do anything, she wanted it only to be dealing the poison from a distance.

tamayo refused. it was her duty to deliver the poison head-on, and hold muzan in place for as long as she did. no matter how much hikari and yushiro fought her on it, she wouldn't budge.

hikari suddenly remembered the last time she saw lady tamayo outside the fight.

hikari looks over at tamayo, a sad smile on her face as she walks up to the woman.

"do you have to?" she whispers. tamayo takes her hand, a peaceful smile on her face.

"i do." tamayo nods. "if we want him gone, it must be done."

"b-but someone else can do it! another demon slay-"

"shh." tamayo presses a finger to hikari's lips, and she shakes her head softly. "it must be me, no matter how hard you try."

"but you can still-"

"hikari, what happens to demons when muzan dies?" tamayo beckons.

"they die."

"exactly." tamayo nods. hikari gasps at the realization, and she tears up immediately. "i will be dead either way. so, i must go out while helping."

hikari throws herself into tamayo's arms, doing her best to choke back tears. she squeezes tamayo tightly, squinting her eyes shut as her chest heaves up and down.
