You woke up to the sound of a loud bump, and a "SHHH" as you sat up and rubbed your eyes. Someone was inside your apartment. Once realizing this, you grabbed the metal bat you always had under your bed, and looked around your apartment. In the closet, in the bathroom, under and in everything. You didn't find anyone or anything, so you just shrugged it off and changed into normal clothing. You took your keys and headed out, not without closing and locking your door, of course.
You were headed to your job at the local bakery, scrolling through TikTok on your phone. Not this again, you thought to yourself as you heard footsteps again. You tried to ignore it until accidentally pressed the plus button and it turned on your camera. Before you were going to exit it, you could see that from the angle your phone was in, there was some guy on the roof. He hsd what kind of looked like a costume, with a hood and a bandage looking design. Odd, you thought to yourself before turning the camera off. He wasn't the person following you, though, you knew that much. You could hear those footsteps from behind you. When you turned the corner, and checked your camera, yep, there both of them were, the hooded man and whoever was stalking you.
The footsteps stopped for a moment, and you turned around curiously. No one was behind you, and when you turned and checked your camera, not even the hooded man was there anymore. You thought you were hallucinating until whaddya know, the man in he costume thing is back. Yet again, you shrugged it off before heading inside the bakery and putting on your apron. You glanced out the window in the door every time you finished ordering to someone, and he was always there, sitting on the edge of the rooftop on the small building by the bakery. You eventually forgot about the whole thing, deciding to move on since people started to flood in more. Finally, your shift ended at 1:00. You sighed in relief when you saw it on the clock, and headed out for your lunch.
Walking home, you realized that you, yet again, forgot to eat breakfast. You groaned angrily, knowing you needed to rid of that habit before you just forgot breakfast even existed. It wasn't your fault, you tried to remind yourself but normally forgot anyways. It didn't help that you worked at a bakery, so the smell of sweet pastries filling your lungs made your stomach grumble.
You entered your apartment, going straight for your pantry only to be greeted by... well, nothing but boxes of cereal. Suddenly hangry, you knew you weren't about to waste cereal for lunch.
"Guess I'm not eating anything until I get groceries." You sighed, walking out, again. You just wanted to take a nap, and now you had to go back just to get some damn groceries. As you walked past stevens apartment, an arm pulled you inside. He set you on the couch, where you sat, nervous, since you thought you were getting kidnapped, until Steven spoke up.
"I'll make you lunch, don't worry."
"How did you-"
"Thin walls." He cut you off, making you nod after what he said. You were about to speak up about how you could handle dinner, but he cut you off- again.
"Don't worry, I don't mind making you dinner, too."
"Damnit, I can handle myself."
"First of all, watch your mouth. Second of all, taking care of yourself is actually eating breakfast in the morning, innit?"
"Tch. It was just a mistake.."
"Two days in a row isn't really a mistake anymore, mate."
"Oh, yeah? I don't need you to act like a cranky mother when I do something that is negatively impacting me," you say, pointing to him. You hear a stifled chuckle from the reflection in the cup on the table in front of you, most likely from Marc.
"Funny. You know what isn't funny? If I burn this food and give it to you, burnt."After a moment of thought, you remembered that you were still hungry, and put your hands up in defeat.
"Fine, fine. I'll stop teasing you." You mumble, "Man-Karen..." which man it even harder for poor Marc to hold in his laughter.
"What was that?" Steven says, turning around.
"Noooothing...-" You begin to say, until Khonshu walks up to steven from the back of the room.
"The small worm child called you a man-Karen." He says, and you look at him, offended. You hold a hand to your heart, clenching your t-shirt.
"I thought we were friends.." You say, and use your special skill: crying on command. A tear slips from your eye, and Steven suddenly looks up with concern.
"You alright, darling?-"
"UGH, THE AGONY.." You say dramatically, pressing the back of your hand to your forehead. Steven scoffed, realizing it was a joke, and went back to plating the food.
"Eat your food and stop faking emotions," Steven said, putting the plate of food on your table. You wiped away your fake tears and starting to quickly eat it, despite Steven's warnings that you may get sick. He shook his head when he noticed that you just ignored him.
"Hey, real quick, have you seen a sketchy guy around here?" You questioned randomly, just now remembering that guy that followed you to work.
"What kind of... sketchy guy?"
"Well, he has his hood thing, and a cape that kinda looks like a moon, and this weird gray mask, his eyes are, like, completely white, and he has these cool golden crescent things attached to his chest." You began, making Steven glare at Marc, kind of relived that it wasn't.. Harrow, or something.
"Good, I thought you meant someone else there. I actually think I saw him, one second." Steven said, leaving to go to his bathroom. Khonshu shook his head and walked up to you, basically explaining to you the whole ordeal about the suits and everything. You nodded, and looked over to see Marc, suited up.
"Hey, Marc." You waved to him, looking back to the crumbs on your plate.
"Wha- how did you-" Steven said through the glass cup.
"He spoiled it," you start, pointing to Khonshu, who looked at you in betrayal.
"WHAT- DONT YOU DARE THROW ME UNDER THE BUS LIKE THAT, SMALL CHILD WORM" He yelled, looking at you. Although you couldn't see his facial expressions, his voice almost made his bonehead look angry.
"Karma's a bitch," you smirk, and he phases away, probably still mad.
"Language, by the way." Steven tells you through the cup.
"Yada Yada, I don't.. care.." you yawn in between your words, curling up on the couch.
"Y/n?-" Marc whispered, nodding to himself once he knew you were fully asleep. He set a fluffy blanket down on you, getting a pillow from off of the couch and putting it under your head.
"It's not even the end of the day yet.." Steven mumbles to Marc, his sentence coming out like a question.
"She just likes sleeping, I guess." Marc shrugged, checking a second time to see if you were still asleep, since he felt like he talked a little bit loud. His shoulders were tense for a moment, but once he saw you sleeping calmly, he relaxed.
"Ah, we have to go do moon knight things in an hour." Marc realized aloud.
"Give me the body really quick." Steven said through his mirror.
"Why?..-"
"Just, I'll show you."
