You slowly woke up, still on the couch after last night. Your blanket was wrapped around you, and as much as you wanted to stay there for an hour, you reminded yourself that you had work. You weren't really looking forward to it, since you had to fill in for someone else's shift because that person was sick. It majorly annoyed you because you were planning on having a fun day with Esther, but you were going to have to wait for 4:00 instead of 2:00. Guilt hung over your shoulders while you got changed out of pajamas, groaning one more time before you locked your apartment room and left.

The fresh air was nice, and you gave yourself a moment to take it in before you headed for the bakery. Luckily, your boss is kind enough to let you and your coworkers have one pastry if you haven't had breakfast, and you decided it'd be better to just get that pastry than to waste your time and food on making an elaborate meal just for you to waste it when you realize you're late. Yeah, okay, maybe you were overthinking, but you knew that the pastries at your bakery was better than any other, so it would definitely be worth the wait.

You were greeted by Rebecca, your coworker, once you stepped inside from the front of the bakery, giving her a smile and a wave back while you put your apron on. It was a small business, and the bakery worked so that the kitchen was right behind where you bought your food, meaning that you could watch everything be baked fresh. If you were in a rush, you could just ask for a frozen pastry from the freezer. All your customers knew each other like neighbors, and you befriended, or try to befriend everyone who orders something, as you like to talk to them while you make the food.

Heading to the back, you softly smiled at the sound of the ding from the bell on the door, already knowing who it was. She always came in first, getting the same simple order every time.

It was Esther.

Ever since you told her about how you worked at the bakery, which was during around whenever you both first met, she enjoyed talking with you and Rebecca. She didn't say anything,  as you'd already said her entire order. She nodded, giving Rebecca the exact money that was due, and walked up to the side of the counter where she could watch you cook.

"You're good at that." She leaned on the counter while saying this, and you shrugged, being careful to not mess anything up while you did.

"It's like opening a water bottle for me, I don't have to worry about screwing anything up, since someone really likes the basics," You say, eyeing Esther while you said "someone." She laughed, stopping when she noticed you weren't laughing back.

"Not funny? My bad—"

"—NO! No, it's funny. Sorry, I was just zoned out," You admit, heat rising in your face while you turned to see Rebecca leaned against the counter, smirking at you. "Shut it," you mouth to her, and she just rolls her eyes and shrugs.

- Small Time Skip -

"Bye, y/n! See you!" Esther called while she walked out, her food and her drink in hand. You waved back, a grin on your face that couldn't seem to go away while you handled other people's orders. Your smile quickly faded once you saw someone else walk in familiar, but definitely not in a good way.

It was Gabriel, probably there just to annoy the living shit out of you, which he already did with even his presence.

"What can I get for yo-"

"Five jelly filled donuts," He cut Rebecca off, which only made you angrier, "And hurry up."

"Would you like that cold or hot?" Rebecca said, still trying to keep a kind attitude in her voice.

"Hot."

"Alright, that will be 10.78," She said, and Gabriel grumbled something about the price. It didn't make sense as to why he'd think that if he's the one that ordered five donuts, but you just sighed and watched him hand over the money before taking a seat. It made you feel better that he was in a bad mood, and you really wanted to shove some jelly in his face, but you also knew that'd ruin the reviews on the place and would definitely get you fired. Instead of making the donuts by scratch, you just took some out of the freezer and heated them up in the oven. If Gabriel was going to be a pain in the ass, then you weren't going to give him something fresh. He just didn't deserve it. Besides, he said he wanted his food cooked quickly, so he was just asking for it.

When the donuts were ready to come out the oven, you made sure it wasn't cold in the middle, because you knew that'd be something he would complain about. After you put the food in the bags, you called out for him to get it, and turned to go make someone else's order. It had felt like a million weights were thrown off of your shoulders once Gabriel finally left.

The rest of the people were just people getting the usual, or newcomers. You heard another ding, which made you look up for a split second to see that your shift was over, as another coworker was walking in. Relief washed over you while you waved goodbye to Rebecca.

You were happily walking back, completely famished. To be honest, you'd eat a rock by that point.

This was why you were extremely happy to find that Steven was cooking in his apartment. You let yourself in, flopping on their rolling chair and slowly spinning around.

"How was work?" Steven asked, and you stopped spinning.

"Mediocre," You shrugged, and Steven frowned.

"What made it 'mediocre?'" You sighed deeply at the "interaction" with Gabriel during your shift. Sure, you two didn't even talk to each other, but the majority of the reason for that was because you were avoiding him the entire time.

"There's this guy who's been pissing me off, Gabriel. I wish he would just go awayyy..." You complained, your hands covering your face. "He's the guy that bullies me and shit."

"Kill him." You turned to look at Jake with wide eyes who was grinning, and Steven glared at him.

"To be honest, I probably should," You pondered, and Steven pointed at you with his spatula in his hand.

"No one is killing anyone, we don't need the police coming after you." He scolded, and you reluctantly nodded your head.

"Moving on," Marc started, "Did you forget something at work today?" Marc looked at you expectantly while you thought for a moment before realizing.

"Oh! My phone, yeah." You nodded to yourself before speculation took hold of your emotions. "...Why?" You furrowed your eyes brows, not getting where Marc was trying to go with this.

"Eres rara como la mierda. What kinda shit goes on in that head of yours when you open a search bar?" Jake said, and you froze in the roller chair. They looked through your search history. Damn it, I knew I should've changed that dumbass password.. You thought, just then realizing how obvious it was. It was your favorite color. You made what that color was very obvious, since it was the color of your phone case.

"Who in their right mind looks up 'is it possible to cut your finger nails with scissors'?!" Marc said, and you opened your mouth to speak but couldn't think of any way to protest against it.

"You also looked up if it was illegal to breathe in some states..." Steven said, slightly wondering the question himself.

"You're lucky we just looked at your google search history," Jake added, and you exhaled audibly once you knew that they didn't look through anything else. "unless you are hiding something from us.." He teased, and you shot him a glare.

"I am not. Why would I ever hide stuff from you in my web browser? That'd be dumb, and dumb for me to do." You paused from your ramble to look over and the kitchen table, seeing that the food was ready. "Whatever, you wouldn't get it," You shrugged and got up to walk to the kitchen table to eat.
