You woke up, everything being a blur for a moment. You weren't at the rooftop of the apartments anymore, but laying on Marc's couch in his own apartment. You looked around the room with your eyes, most of the reason being because you were trying to find where Marc was. You saw him cooking something, which confused you since you thought that it was still nighttime, but you knew that Steven was fronting. You sat up, now fully awake, and stretched your arms before seeing that there was light coming from the window that you were facing, meaning you must've slept all night.
All night... You thought, trying to think of a reason that this would be a bad thing, until it hit you moments later.
"Damnit, I forgot to call Esther..." You groan, pulling out your phone and catching Steven's attention.
"Morning to you too, love," he calls, chuckling to himself and later going back to cooking. You nod to him, pulling out the piece of paper that Esther gave you yesterday and putting the number in before adding it as a contact. As soon as you were done making her contact, you quickly sent her a message apologizing that you didn't call her in time, and said that it was because you were busy studying and fell asleep really early. She soon replied with: "Don't worry, it doesn't matter. I'm guessing this is y/n, so hello ^^"
You started texting her for a while, not even noticing that Khonshu was standing over you, reading the messages you were sending to each other. When you typed in something, adding a heart but removing it after some hesitation, he shouts:
"AHA! CRUSH!" It made you jump and you turned to glare at him.
"Nosey..." You mutter, turning back and talking with her again.
"Breakfast is ready!" Steven calls from the kitchen, breaking the short silence. "It's pancakes with fruit and syrup."
"WITH WHIPPED CREAM?-" You yell, turning your phone off to set it on the couch and run straight for the kitchen. You plop down on your chair, immediately digging in as soon as your plate was set down in front of you. After quickly gobbling it up, you thanked Steven for making the food, rushed into your apartment, changed clothing, grabbed your backpack, and said goodbye to the two before rushing to school.
Esther was the one to meet you there, where you both chatted next to the lockers while you got your things.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely make it up to you. Hey, want to come over to my place after school? It's not far from here," You tell her, still feeling a bit guilty for forgetting about calling her.
"Sure! Meet me near the front doors outside after the school day is over, and you can bring me there! I'm sure my parents wouldn't care." She smiled, and you gave her a soft smile back.
"Great! See you there!" You chirped, heading for your classes.
- Time skip -
You happily walked over to Esther, who was waiting on you at the exit.
"Awww, how cute! The baby needs a friend to change her diaper!..." Gabriel said sarcastically, trying to make you angry.
"Ignore him," You mumble to Esther, who nods. And so, you did just that. When Gabriel noticed that you weren't paying any attention to him anymore, he stomped the ground and walked over to his group of friends.
"Anyways... Come on, lets go!" You said, your mood changing almost instantly. Esther smiled at you and walked with you through the park. You two chatted happily, and you didn't even notice Khonshu walking behind you both the entire time. Eventually, you made it to the apartments, where Esther stopped talking and paused for a moment.
"Wait.. Don't you live with your parents? Or, even your family?" She questioned, which made you stop. You didn't have a real family, not that you knew of. All of the family you ever have had was killed in front of you, when you were really young. You grew up in the local orphanage, and ran away from it after finding out how terrible the people were there. You lived homeless for a while, until you could afford to go to your high school. You've lived in an apartment ever since, not including when you were evicted.
