Author's Note; one year ago this month was when the first chapter of Hotel Cryptid was posted over here on WattPad. I didn't expect that only a year later, I would be writing a third book. This story has grown so much from the original mysterious hotel it was to a whole story of family, death and friendship.

Thanks to everyone who has read the book. I'm hoping one of these days I can publish Hotel Cryptid, to where it will be in bookstores and everything. Hotel Cryptid is my favorite story I've written and means so much to me. And it means a lot that people enjoy it.

Enough about me gushing about the story, enjoy this one year anniversary chapter. See you at the two years mark - Mars!

The hotel buzzed as the workers ran around. Everyone was at the casino, partying the night away. Everyone dressed in suits and dresses. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone.

Calico stood in the busy casino, wearing a formal suit. She refused to wear a dress, no matter how many times Michelle tried to convince her. Anita pulled her aside, also dressed in her own suit. Calico rolled her eyes.

"What do you want, Nita?" She growled. Anita twitler Calico, making the woman stumble. "To find you, of course," she chuckled. But she was only pushed away. "You are such a dork," Calico muttered.

Anita leaned on the wall by Calico, with a slight smirk on her face. But she was pulled down by her tie, causing her to almost stumble and hit her head against the wall. "Listen here you dork, I'm here trying to have a decent time and you're ruining that". Calico pulled out a dagger and held it to Anita.

"From the blush on your face, I would've assumed you liked seeing me," Anita said. This only caused Calico to blush more and mutter things in Russian. Most of them being profanities.

Michelle walked in, of course fashionably late. She wore a slim black dress with a leg cut and matching black heels. She made her way through the crowd to the bar. "A cherry cocktail, please!" She ordered with a smile. "Coming right up" said one of the bartenders.

While she waited for her drink, she looked at everyone else at the bar. It was extremely crowded, because of course it is, it's free drinks tonight. She took notice of Antoinette, drinking a margarita.

She took her drink, going over to her friend. "Toni, my bestie" She said, taking a drink from her cherry cocktail. Antoinette's face lit up as soon as she saw Michelle. "Elle!".

The two sat together at the bar, enjoying their drinks. "I would've thought you would be out dancing" Michelle said. Antoinette shrugged. "I only really succeed at dancing if it's ballet". "Is that your way of saying you can't dance besides ballet?" Michelle asks. Antoinette sheepishly nodded.

Michelle quickly finished both of their drinks and dragged Antoinette to the dance floor. She twirled Antoinette into a waltz, dancing as if she were light as a feather. On the other end of this dance, Antoinette struggled. She barely knew how to waltz, it was true when she said she only really knew ballet.

The two flowed on the dance floor, laughing between themselves and having a great time. Across the dance floor, by a window, Maria stood. She watched everyone with saddened eyes. Grace walked over and stood next to Maria. "Bonjour, Maria"

"Hola, Grace" Maria responded, looking at her friend. "Why so gloomy? Today is one of celebration, my dear!". This caused Maria to only sigh. "I don't like dancing. It isn't the same without my husband". Grace nodded at this.

"I can understand that. Things aren't always the same. Like baking cookies, it isn't the same baking cookies without my granddaughter, Philippa" she sighed. "Guess we're both missing out with family?" Maria chuckled.
