Michelle, whom works as a clerk in the shops on Floor Yeti, walks down the icy corridor. She's lucky she can wear soft, big, coated jackets. Like seriously, it gets freezing there.
Michelle shivers and hugs herself, she would love to work on Floor Kraken like Dahlia, where is is always hot. Or maybe Floor Chupacabra like Maria. Where it was pretty much always humid, but at least they got to wear things like tank tops and shorts.
Salem, Oregon, 1963. Michelle, a shy, but sweet sixteen year old, walks down the hallway of her school. Michelle went to an all male school, where men like priests often came in and talked about religion. One might call the school 'consirvative'. It talked a lot about faith and religion. But that's how she grew up.
After school, everyday. Michelle and her friends, Carl, Cornelius, Joe, and Hugh, would all go to get ice cream at the local drugstore. A drugstore is a store that sells prescriptions, but also acts like a diner.
Sometimes, all of them would sneak out on weekends and go into the woods. Maybe to talk, maybe to smoke, sometimes Michelle would go alone.
This was one of those occasions. Michelle went alone. Just to watch the creek.
Michelle stood by the abandoned bridge over a creek in the woods. It used to be a park. But, it got abandoned in the 1920s. It was now the 1960s.
A guy, around her age goes over to her. "Hey handsome", he says. Michelle didn't want that. "please leave me alone", she politely says. He doesn't leave her alone. This aggravated her. He should've left her alone when she asked.
Things after that was a blur. When she actually remembered things. It was snowing. Hard. There was blood. The guy was laying on the ground.
Michelle looked at the frost. There were frost designs on the wall. That, or it was real frost. It was so cold, it could've been real frost.
Michelle remembered the guy. His blonde hair, frosty eyes, pale skin. His lips were a pale pink.
She looked in the mirror. She saw the scared girl whom just killed a guy she didn't mean to. The twisted brown hair with some blonde in it. The hazel eyes, instead of scared, look tired. Her tint freckles are scrambled across her skin. Her dark skin looked dry. With darker pink lips. Her tired eyes with dark bags under. Her pink lips were now cracked and in a frown instead of the once time it was curled upward. Her lips were a dark blue, from the freezing cold.
Michelle walked into what she calls "The snow room". It's a room, filled with snow, that has sleds and more in it. It's a place where children can play. It's supervised but right now it alas, isn't open. Boo hoo.
Michelle's closest friend in this hotel is Antoinette. The sweet gal.
Antoinette stood at the front desk. Antoinette, when Juniper wasn't working there, worked the front desk. One day a week, Juniper had to file paperwork. So Antoinette took over the front desk.
Antoinette was bored and was clicking her pen. In walks in Michelle, skinny jeans, crop top and what looked to be a fur coat, off the shoulders. Army boots. Heart shaped sun glasses. She looked stunning. This had caught Antoinette off guard, as it was the 1970s.
Michelle walked over to the front desk and leaned over. "Hi. I'd like to get a file change. I'm changing my file up. Just changing the first name", She politely says. "Alright. What's the first and last name", Antoinette opens the file cabinet. "Michael Joan", Michelle simply says. Confused, Antoinette looks up. "Your name is Michael?", She asks. "No. My name is Michelle. That is my dead name. I'm transgender, male to female", she said. "Oh. Alright. Changing the name to Michelle?", Antoinette asks. Michelle nods and Antoinette changes the name. This satisfies Michelle and makes her smile a little.
After that, Michelle and Antoinette hung out a lot. Michelle explains what transgender is and how she realized that she was a girl, not a boy. Antoinette, before that, didn't really know what it was. But was glad that she now knew what it was. She fully supports Michelle.
Michelle looks around the snow room. She was just checking it to make sure the snow didn't melt or anything. She leaves the room and walks through the halls. Making small talk with some people she sees, only out of politeness though.
Michelle decided to go downstairs to see what Antoinette is up to. She didn't tell anyone, but Antoinette was near and dear to her heart. She had a special place in there. She wouldn't tell anyone, not even Antoinette herself, but Michelle liked her. Antoinette knew about Michelle liking ladies, and she supports that, but Antoinette didn't know about Michelle's feelings or whom she liked.
Antoinette made Michelle's knees feel weak. Made Michelle's stomach start to flutter almost. Antoinette's laugh made Michelle laugh. Antoinette's smile made Michelle blush slightly. Michelle felt like she had known Antoinette her whole life.
Michelle got downstairs and turned the corner. "Hey Toni-", she started. But stopped when she saw Georgie kissing Antoinette on the cheek. Antoinette was smiling brightly. Her cheeks were pink. Michelle stopped. "I'll see you later tonight, alright?", Georgie said to the blushing like crazy Antoinette's "Y-Yeah!", She giggled. Georgie kissed her hand and left. When he was out of sight, Antoinette squealed.
Antoinette noticed the standing Michelle. "M! I got a date with Georgie! Isn't that amazing?", She hopped up and down. "Y-Yeah. That's awesome", Michelle walked over to the happy Antoinette. "You oughta help me pick out a dress! You're the queen of fashion here!", Antoinette pulled Michelle to her room.
Michelle's heart sank in her chest. She was happy for Antoinette, right?
