Maria, living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, works a job not many want. It's a dangerous game.

Maria, also known as "Godmother", because it is this time, not many expect her to be a mob boss wife and mob boss of her own. They run their gang.

Maria, the fierce lady with an iron will. Maria Lopez, married to the love of her life, Alejandro Lopez, also know as "Godfather", a powerful mob boss of Santa Fe, feared but loved at the same time.

"Godmother", Juan, one of the members in the gang, walks in, taking off his hat out of respect. Maria blows a cloud of smoke, holding her cigarette, legs up on her desk, in a suit and tie. "Come in, Juan", Maria says, blowing another puff of smoke.

"Godmother, she got away. We couldn't get her back", Juan says as he stands in front of her desk. "She what?", Maria looks up at Juan, who now looks scared. No one wants to piss off a mob boss's wife. Especially if she isn't scared to get he husband. "She got away", Juan repeats himself. "What should we do?".

"Well, Juan, go find her. Bring Antonio, bring José, bring anyone. Just find her. If she goes to the police, we're caught. And if I find out she goes to the police or tells anyone. You'll be dead first. You don't want me to get Alejandro, do you?", Maria starts, standing up. Juan shakes his head no. "Exactly. Now, leave my office and find her", she finishes. "Yes, ma'am", Juan puts his hat back on and quickly leaves.

Maria sighs, sitting back down. She puts out her cigarette. "Oi. What am I goin' to do? Alejandro should be home soon", she sighs again.

A few hours later, Maria is smoking another cigarette and writing some paperwork. José walks in, "Godmother, she has been take care of", he says, taking off his hat out of respect. "Good. Now go. I need to finish work", Maria says, not looking up from paperwork. "Permission to go home?", José asks, hoping to go home to his wife and kids. "Of course. Tell the wife I say hi", Maria says, turning the page. "Thank you, Godmother. I will", José leaves.

Maria knew most of the gang's wives, husbands and kids. So did Alejandro. Sometimes, when Maria wasn't working, she would babysit for them. Alejandro and Maria would often hold house parties and invite the families of the gang.

More hours later, it's pretty late. Maria goes home, tired and missing her husband. Before she left, she changed into a knee length skirt and a comfortable knit sweater, with some Mary-Janes.

Maria goes into her house and locks the door. "Hola Amor", Alejandro walks over to his tired wife. Maria smiles and kisses his cheek. Alejandro smiles at his wife's affection. "How was work, Amor?", He asks. "It was okay, a girl escaped, but José and Juan got her back", Maria explained.

Maria went to their room and changed into some pajamas, which is just one of Alejandro's shirts. Maria lays down and Alejandro lays by her. He hugs his wife, kissing the back of her head, which makes her smile. Maria may be scary at work, but really, she'd sweet. She adores her husband and he adores her.

"Amor, should I come in tomorrow?", He asks. "Maybe. I'm just worried about about getting caught. It would be endgame if we did. We run a big and notorious gang. We're going to get caught eventually", Maria explains, cuddling up to her husband. "It'll be okay, Amor, I promise". Maria smiles softly, "Okay, I believe you".

Maria stands at her dresser, that has a photo frame with a photo of her and her husband on their wedding day along with her wedding ring. "Some promise...", She mutters. She chuckles a little, "Look at me now, Amor", she says to the picture of them. "Stuck in this horrid place". She picks up the wedding ring and puts it in her ring finger.

Maria sighs and remembers how Alejandro would dance with her in their living room to their favorite music. He'd hold her, give her kisses, make her laugh. He'd protect her from others. He always included her opinion when running the gang. In the gang, they were equal. No one was more powerful, each were equal.

Maria missed her husband dearly. She didn't know if he was alive or not. She would love to see him again, but there is a good chance he is dead.

"I miss you, Mi Amor", she sighs.
