RECAP:
“Is there anything else you would like to know about my relationship plans with Lochlan?” I asked while pushing my drawers shut. “Um, well there is one more thing. Have you heard the rumors about him?” she asked with a straight face. Rumors? I knew that he was caught making out with some chick at a party. “No, why?” I asked. “Never mind,” she said while zipping up the suitcase. Emma had this look of concentration on her face, so I decided to leave it alone.
Chapter 6
We spent the rest of the night watching Gilmore Girls, I drifted in and out of sleep, we ended up sleeping in the bean bags. I woke up to the sound of a knock on my bedroom door. “Annie? You need to get ready, you will be leaving in one hour,” my mum said while walking in my room. Wow she knows where my room is. Had no clue that she knew that.
“Thanks,” I said in a monotone voice. She glared at me and left. I kicked Emma softly, “Oi, wake up, we gots to get ready.” She sighed and stretched. “Dude, we shouldn’t sleep in bean bags, everything hurts,” she complained. I smiled and went into the bathroom to get ready. I washed my face, brushed my teeth and brushed my hair. I can’t be bothered having a shower. There was a knock on my door. “Hurry up! I need to pee!” yelled Emma. “Ok, ok!” I said while opening the door and walking out. After she walked back out, “you could have used the bathroom in the hallway,” I said while tidying up my room. “Meh.” Within 20 minutes I had packed my toiletries and we were ready to go. We went downstairs and had a coffee with Lisa and Mark and were chatting away. Next thing I knew my sister walked in, my older one, Jocelyn. Yeah, I have 3 older step siblings, they live overseas, one full sister that works for my mum, and she is 21. I also have a half sibling, my dad’s and step-mum’s daughter, Celia, she is ten years younger than me, so she is 6. Yeah big family, not to mention that my mum is one of 4, my dad one of 5, my step dad one of three and my step mum one of three. BIG family and they all get along so we always have family get togethers at my mum’s house, that’s when everyone is in Melbourne.
Jocelyn and I don’t get along very well, maybe it’s because I'm better at everything than she is. I know that sounds snobby and all, but she like failed mostly all of her classes, and she is not even pretty. The only thing that she is good at is organizing my mum’s schedule, and even then she isn’t that good at it. “Well, look what we have here. Mum had something come up so she said to say goodbye, behave and have fun with your future husband.” I grimaced and so did everyone else in the room. Mark looked really pissed, Lisa was starting to go all pink and blotchy, Emma looked like she was about to punch someone. I sighed and stood up. “Bye Jocelyn, I will see you… later?” I said, well asked. I don’t think I will, it’s not like I want too or anything. She took that as her dismissal and left. I walked over and grabbed my suitcase and put it in the boot of my car (USA terms – trunk). Emma got in the car, I walked back up to Lisa and Mark. “Well, I guess this is goodbye for now,” I said while giving Lisa a hug. “For now,” she confirmed. I nodded then pulled Mark into a hug. He was starting to get teary. “If you need me I will be here, one call and I'm there. If you need me to bash him up, or any other guy, I'm there.” “I know, you always have been and always will be,” “Ok. Well,” he pulled out of the hug, “I'm gonna miss you kiddo,” “We’re” corrected Lisa, “I know, I promise I’ll be back, I’ll look after myself,” I said while walking back to the car trying not to cry. As we drove off they waved, I smiled and waved back. “So, are you ok?” Emma asked. “No.” we didn’t speak the rest of the way to the Jones’. Emma knew that I needed time to think. When we pulled up at Emma’s I helped her take in her stuff.
“You sure you don’t want me to come with you?” she asked. “No, I’ll be right, if I need you, I’ll call.” I said while giving her a hug. “Make sure you do,” she said while unlocking the front door. “Well, I think I am gonna go,” I said with a sad smile. She just nodded and stepped inside. I love Emma, she knows what to do and I don’t need to tell her. I walked to my car and got in. once I pulled up at Lochlan’s I just cut the engine and sat there. Come on Ann! Suck it up! There is no way you are getting out of this. Smile and go inside. Take your bags too. Remember to smile. I looked at the clock and I had been psyching myself up for 10 minutes. Shit, better go in.
