Prompt: Write about being unable to sleep
(Word Count: 148 Words)

I toss and turn on my mat, all sense of rest feeling foreign to my weary mind. Night has gone on for hours, and sleep continues to evade me. As I gaze up at the chipped concrete ceiling, illuminated only by the starlight shimmering through the window, my thoughts whirl around at the thought of what is going to happen tomorrow. Deliverance? Death? Destiny?

I gave a sigh of frustration. I know that there is no point worrying, and that nothing I can do will change the future or their choice. But I still feel terrified. Fears and 'what if's' swirl through my mind, keeping me awake.
'What if the judge decides I am guilty?'
'What if the proof doesn't hold?'
'What if they are bribed?'

At last, cursed sunlight shines through, and theguard runs his baton along the bars with a nasty sneer,
"It's judgement time."
