Please note: This is an excerpt of a larger story (which it is not currently written down nor actually existence - only in my head), which is about a girl and the guy she's in love with, who is a Villain. At some point in the overall story (which, again, only exists in my imagination currently), when confessing their love for the first, swoon-worthy romantic time, the Villain makes the vow to Jenny (the MC girl): "I love you. For you, I would refrain from killing."
This is kind of opposed to the usual thing where a Hero says "I would kill for you." type thing. Because for a Villain, killing is easy. Mercy is not.

~ This happens a couple months after they confess their love to each other, written in perspective of female MC ~

I burst into the room, taking in the tied-up superhero and the triumphant supervillain at a glance.
"I'm sorry for interrupting your speech darling, it was absolutely excellent, but I have to say something first."

The purple-clad figure turned to me, "My love, what are you doing?"

I gave a sigh, "Unfortunately, I can't let you do this."

He furrowed his brow, "Why not?"

"Remember when you said you were willing to refrain from killing for me?"

"Yes..."

"Did you mean it?"

"Of course I did!"

"Then I'm begging you, please don't kill Mr Fancy Costume here." I sensed the superhero bristle at my dismissiveness of him.

Glancing to make sure the hero was still securely tied and his power restraints all in place, the menancing figure strode closer to me before speaking in a pleading voice,
"But you don't understand - this is the end. At last, our rivalry ends here. I am so, so close to finally beating him once and for all."

I massaged my temple in an attempt to ease the headache beginning to form, "No, no, I do understand how long you have been wanting this for, my love, and this is why I'm so sorry. I wouldn't ask if it didn't mean a lot to me."

He looked at me gravely, "Are you sure? Don't be fooled by his stupid charm of being 'Mr Superhero'. He does more harm than good for this city!"

"Oh trust me, I know. Don't worry, I am well aware of what a jerk he can be. After all," I raised my voice so the hero, who up till now had tried and failed to subtly eavesdrop, could hear my words, "who on Earth eats the last slice of cake that they know someone else had specifically saved and was looking forward to eating all day, huh Nathaniel?" I said as I turned to face the supposed champion of justice with my hands on my hips.

My villain's eyes widened in surprise, "Nathaniel?"

The hero raised my eyebrow at me, "you knew this whole time?"

"Well duh, what do you take me for? Even when you were a kid playing dress up you always hummed that same stupid tune. Something that annoying is pretty darn recognisable. Plus, you are not half so subtle as you think sneaking out of the house. Took me barely a few days to connect the dots."

"How dare you call my theme song annoying!" He retorted.

I just rolled my eyes, whilst Damien looked between us in confusion.

Quickly moving on from his hurt pride, Nathan smirked as he glanced from me to my significant other,
"So... you and the Villain huh? Well now I understand why you've never brought your boyfriend home to meet Mum and Dad."

It finally clicked for Damien, bless his heart. "'Mum and Dad'? But that means... you guys are-"

"Yup. Meet my annoying brother, Nathan - aka his" I quoted using my fingers and I heard him scoff " 'super cool' persona: Dan the Man. Or whatever his so-called superhero nickname is meant to be nowadays."
