...

I cursed as I heard heavy footsteps and sniffed the air. Human. I gave a low growl as they drew closer, along with their stench.
I turned to RedTail, who was nervously chattering and chewing a nut. Speaking in a series of chatters and squeaks I instructed her to tell everyone to hide, for man was here. She gave a shrill of alarm and then scrambled up the tree, and I watched as the squirrel leapt from branch to branch, bringing warning. Now assured that my forest friends would be safe, I turned to OakHeart and MoonFur, telling them, in a jumbled mixture of growls and snorts, to get ready.
The footsteps were getting louder, I silently counted to ten, then I gave a howl and we charged into the clearing.
What a fine time we had, OakHeart kicked and hit whilst Moonfur and I clawed and bit. The men were on the ground in a matter of seconds. Spitting in disgust of the pathetic sight, I silently signaled OakHeart and Moonfur to my side. Then, reluctantly shifting into my human form, I inwardly relished the terror upon the mens face as they saw that I was no longer a wolf, but a woman.
Stalking towards them, I snarled. Then, my eyes piercing into theirs, I cried out, in a cold voice,
"You dared to enter the forest. It is only born of my mercy that you live. Make haste and leave this place! Take back a message. Tell your people that if any dare to enter again, they will face the Wrath of the Forest Guardian!" At my last words, I moved as though I was about to leap upon them, and, utter fear upon their faces, they scrambled up and fled, yelping in terror.
I waiting until their jabbers were no more, and the forest breathed out the breath it had be holding. Then, leaning against OakHeart, I softly laughed and laughed till my sides ached.
Once I had regained my breath, I shifted back into my wolf form, and my companions and I ran, like the free spirits that we were, back to our cosy cave and small glade.
