"Shoto! I sent you 3 letters a week over summer and you didn't reply to a single one of them!"

This was how Mina greeted him on the Hogwarts Express, pulling the door open aggressively before hauling her excessively large suitcase inside behind her.

"Hello Mina." he greeted, standing up to help her haul her luggage onto the overhead rails.

"Explain!" she yelled, pulling them onto the seats.

"Um..." How could he say that his father had cut off all communication outside the Todoroki mansion for the past six weeks due to the rise in dark wizards, and he spent every day training with him to excel in the most difficult offensive spells. "Are you sure you had the right address?" he asked instead, wincing at the growing frown on his friend's face.

Mina huffed but pulled him into a hug anyways. He froze, not used to such close and affection contact, before relaxing and returning the gesture, resting his head atop hers.

"Did you have a good summer?" he asked, once they separated.

"Oh yeah, it was awesome! I met up with Denki, Sero and Kirishima loads; we're planning lots of cool pranks this year!" she grinned, gesturing to her suitcase above. "Don't worry though, it's nothing that'll harm your pretty head."

"Pretty?" he asked, tilting his head to the side in confusion.

"Yes, pretty. You are a very pretty boy Shoto, and I'm realising it even more after not seeing you for two months! Speaking of, have you heard from Tsu or Jirou?"

"No. I know Jirou was travelling abroad with her parents for their concerts, though. And Tsu says she lives pretty off the grid, so I assume she didn't send many letters."

"Probably. Oh, I wonder if she has any cool photographs of the animals!" Mina gushed with wide eyes.

"I do. Hello Mina, Shoto."

"Hello Tsu. Did you have a good summer?" Shoto asked as Mina jumped up to hug the green-haired girl.

"I did. My family and I went and discovered a herd of wild Bicorns, but we didn't manage to find an Augurey in Ireland. We think they may have migrated for the winter already."

Shoto nodded whilst the two girls continued chatting, watching as steam billowed outside the window as the train began to pull away from the station. Many children were hanging out of the windows, waving goodbye to their parents and siblings, but Shoto remained where he was, thinking they couldn't begin heading to Hogwarts fast enough.

"Room for one more?" Jirou asked, popping her head through the door.

"Totally!"

Mina had to push her luggage to the side to get Jirou's suitcase up to, and soon the four were excitedly talking about what they would be learning in the new school year. Apparently this year there was a new DADA teacher, and he was rather famous amongst adult witches.

"He's totally gorgeous! Gilderoy Lockhart is one of the strongest aurors and discoverers, I've read his new book Magical Me! and he talks about finding Vampires in the North, and dealing with a Niffler outbreak somewhere in Egypt!"

"I don't think he is completely truthful." Tsu argued. "There hasn't been a sighting of Vampires in the North forest where he said they were in decades. And Vampires are more integrated into society nowadays, meaning they aren't blood-sucking demons as Lockhart describes."

Shoto nodded in agreement. He had heard his father mention the name Lockhart a few times, if only to express distain for his work and the lack of proof behind his accusations and adventures. Enji said that if he ever saw him then they would duel, to prove if he truly was a master of the advanced spells he discussed in his books.
