It was eerily quiet on the Hogwarts Express now that only four of them were returning to Hogwarts for their 8th year. They had received tons of letters from their friends over the summer about their adventures and work plans, about their internships if they'd already begun, so it wasn't like they would never see them again.

As soon as Bakugou and Shoto arrived on Platform 9 and 3/4 they saw Momo and Tokoyami in a cart right at the start of the train, meaning they would have privacy from the rest of the students. It was unusual not going to Hogwarts in their school robes, but instead shirt and slacks, black on black for both of them. Mitsuki, being the fashionista she was, said they had to make a grand entrance as in the Muggle world it was as if they were going to University. Bakugou tried to brush her off but at Shoto's excitement he relented.

They received looks of awe from several students as they boarded the train, mostly from tales about their fight with the League last year. They were both Honours students too, meaning for both the Slytherin and Gryffindor students it was a great pride for their houses to have such great wizards.

As soon as they had sat down in their cart, the door shutting with a satisfying click and their luggage on the rails above, Momo and Tokoyami asked them all about their trip abroad to Japan. Shoto took out the pictures they had taken in the different prefectures, and how they even had some Muggle ones that didn't move.

"Bakugou's favourite place was Tokyo because we went to a restaurant called Ryumon that served the spiciest Chinese food in the world. I didn't like it though because it burned my face off. But then we had green tea ice cream which was really delicious so I felt better." Shoto explained whilst showing them a picture of their ice cream with a looming skyscraper behind them.

"They had tons of arcades too." added Bakugou. "Rows and rows of games that I totally kicked ass on. But I think Kyoto was my second favourite place."

"Yeah, the shrines and the long walk we took to see that waterfall in the mountains was so fascinating. The scenery is so pretty, sort of like here, but it felt more preserved in a way."

The couple continued to talk about their trip across the country, but at some points it was more like they were reminiscing together whilst the two Ravenclaws watched on with fond amusement.

After they had recounted everything the sun was starting to dip in the sky, and so once a large order of pasties, tea, coffee, and pie were received Momo told them about her initial research in preparation for her studies. Tokoyami showed them the range of books he had managed to find to bring to Hogwarts for his studies too, all with old-fashioned binding and gold foil decoration, the pages yellowing from how old they were.

They arrived at the castle early evening and sat at the end of the Professors' table, a space designated for 8th year students, throughout the welcome feast. Their bets on what house the different children would be sorted into were not unheard by some members of staff, a few such as Lupin even offering their own bets from time to time. As usual the food was plentiful and delicious, warm and satisfying after a long train journey.

Their dorm was separate from the students', one which allowed them a room each which connected to two bathrooms and shared common room space. It was decorated with sofas, chairs, tapestries and rugs, a table by the window overlooking the Black Lake and surrounding hills, and a  the roaring fire already there to warm them up in the cool September evening. The space was a neutral colour with accents of the different houses, meaning it was comfortable for each of the quartet and didn't make them feel like young students but mature adults.

Since it had been a long day and they had to report to the Professors who were guiding their studies first thing in the morning, they each said goodnight and went to their rooms, washing up and sorting out their clothes before drifting off to sleep.
