They sat in silence, Shoto still not touching his tea and nobody had the appetite to eat lunch. They were in shock. How could someone like Endeavour be entrusted with the safety of the magical population when he caused such pain and suffering in his own family? Shipping off his children, killing another, and abusing his youngest son so that it left physical and mental scarring behind? It was unforgivable.

Kirishima stood up, walking over to Shoto before pulling him into a hug, telling him he was so strong and brave for going through all this and still being the manliest person he knows. This brought a ghost of a chuckle out of the Gryffindor, inviting everyone to join the hug too. It was a sombre affair, but they all felt honoured that Shoto had shared this with them, knowing how hard it must be to re-live those awful nightmares.

"I'm sorry." Shoto stated quietly. "I didn't want you all to have to deal with this, it's not your burden to bear."

"Shoto, we love and care about you, so by telling us this you're letting us help and support you."

"Momo's right. Roki, what you were saying earlier about how everything was your fault isn't true. You didn't ask to be born, and you're not responsible for your father's greed nor your brother's anger. You've been through so much Roki, you don't need to add one more burden on your shoulders."

"Really?" the Gryffindor asked, sounding unsure.

"Endeavour's an asshole." Bakugou concluded. "Auror or not, it doesn't excuse his actions."

"An asshole we're gonna have to deal with for the next two hours." Denki groaned, taking a rough bite of his sandwich.

Iida checked the clock on the wall of the common room and noticed they had just under ten minutes until the Aurors would arrive and their talk would begin. He looked at Shoto next to him and saw the tension return to his shoulders.

"We can stay here for the afternoon as well, if you wish." he offered, but Shoto shook his head.

"If I don't go he'll just come and look for me himself. I'll go."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Besides, I've got all of you, right? There's not much he can do in school with prying eyes."

They smiled at the trust Shoto had in them, promising themselves to never let him doubt it, and they hastily ate what they could before returning to the Great Hall where the benches are cleared for the afternoon. Shoto used the bathroom for a moment to cool his puffy eyes and compose himself before he joined his friends on the staircase.

"Shoto," Midoriya began, sounding hesitant, "you said your m-mother poured hot water o-onto you. Did it not s-scar?"

Preparing himself to be yelled at, he opened his mouth to apologise, but Shoto simply nodded and pulled back the red part of his hair. The skin was a little pinker than the right side, the texture not as smooth, and if you looked long enough you could see the outline of the scar around his eyes from his forehead to his cheek.

"The healers managed to prevent most of the scarring, that's why it's so faint. It was worse when I was younger, they had to bandage it up. I'm pretty good at seeing out of one eye."

As they descended the stairs and reached the doors to the Great Hall, loud voices echoed around the entryway, one unmistakably belonging to Head Auror Endeavour. At the sound Shoto froze, hand gripping onto the robes next to him. He flinched when a hand slipped into his own, squeezing reassuringly, and he looked up to see Bakugou looking at him with determination, giving a nod that Shoto returned. Their sleeves hid their hands, and Bakugou said nothing about the increasing tightness around his palm as the group walked into the Great Hall.
