when we got dropped off at my house, I practically had to drag kian inside the house. I've never seen him this drunk before.

"pillows are weird." he said.

kian was just blabbering for a good ten minutes while I was getting him some water.

"tell me. why are you so drunk? I know you well enough to know that you don't get like this just for fun. why was andrea pissed at you? I thought you two were gonna be together?" I asked.

"jesus, so many questions. andrea broke up with me because she thinks I like someone else." he explained.

"but you two dated for almost a year! aw kian, I'm so sorry. I know you wouldn't cheat on her." I said.

"but that's the problem- I didn't cheat on her but I do like this one girl."

"who?"

"she's really pretty, her hair always smells like flowers and she has big blue eyes but she's like my sister."

a sinking feeling made it's way into my stomach. sure, I've liked him since we were kids, but this relationship would never work.

"your hair smells like a rainbow of happiness." oh god.

"kian, you need to sleep. you're a mess."

"but I'm YOUR mess of course."

next thing I knew, kian was passed out on my couch.

I spent the next hour thinking of what just happened. if kian does like me, how will I tell andrea? this will ruin our friendship. maybe he was just really drunk and won't remember anything when he wakes up. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and I see a text from jack.

:hey cutie. wanna hang out later?

wow. I'm surprised he actually texted me.

:sure, I'd love to. meet @ panera around 4?

:see ya there (:

all I know is that I'm in krista's room. I got really drunk after andrea broke up with me. I would never cheat on her; I love her. yes, I do like krista, but I didn't think she would ever find out. after I saw krista talking to some guy it made things worse. I don't remember anything that I said to her or to andrea, so I need to go clear things up.

kian was asleep all night. I need to check on him to make sure he isn't dead or anything. he was sound asleep on my bed.

"hey. how're you feeling?" I nudged him slightly. he poked his head up.

"crappy. what exactly happened last night?" he asked.

"well, you got super wasted and andrea dumped you. you also said some things..."

"oh shit. like what?"

"well you said you liked someone else and that my hair smelled like rainbows of happiness." I said quietly.

"damn, I had it bad. thanks for letting me stay, I really need to head over to andrea's house to clear things up."

"can we talk about...what you said to me?" I asked.

"sorry, this is really important! I can't risk anything happening with andrea. we can talk later." kian said and walked out the door.

I've been standing outside of andrea's house for at least twenty minutes. she hasn't been answering my texts or calls all day. I can't stop thinking about what happened last night, and what I told krista. I don't think I love her in that way, I love andrea. besides, krista doesn't like me. she's never liked anyone. she's never even kissed a boy.

"andrea. open up." I said, knocking on her door.

"I know you're home, I can smell the pizza. please, can we talk?"

she opened the door and wow, she looked awful. her eyes were bloodshot and her hair was dangled. she had huge dark circles under her eyes.

all of this was because of me.

"I don't know if you got the hint, but I don't really want to talk to you right now." she said.

"can I just explain? please?" I pleaded.

"fine. you have one minute."

"yes, you were right. I do like somebody else. I'll always love you, I have since the day we started dating. nothing has changed! I know you don't want to be with me since I like somebody else. I'm just really sorry it ended like this, andrea." I said.

"who is it?" the one thing I didn't want to admit.

"I'm not gonna tell you now. it's just gonna make things worse. call me if you need anything." I said as I walked away.
