we pulled into a gigantic forest with trees towering over us. we were in the literal middle of nowhere. I guess this is what camping's all about. I've never been camping, and quite frankly, I'm glad I haven't.

"so what exactly do you do when you camp?" I asked as we grabbed our supplies out of kian's trunk.

"for starters, you cook your own food and sleep in a tent and explore the exciting place that is, the wilderness." kian said.

"do you have any idea how to set up a tent?" I questioned.

"absolutely no clue."

kian and I found a trail and walked for a while until we found a nice little spot for a campsite. he unpacked our supplies and we started to attempt to build our tent.

when I say attempt, I really mean fail at all costs.

"these directions are no help whatsoever." I said, trying to read the directions that were coincidentally written in japanese.

"how hard could it be?"

-

"wow, this was an absolutely terrible plan."

kian and I had been attempting to set up this stupid tent for the past hour. obviously, we were failing. the tent was in a jumbled mess on the ground.

"what the hell, why is this so complicated?" kian yelled. he was very frustrated. he has zero patience for things like this. when we were kids, he would get mad and throw a tantrum whenever something didn't go his way.

"at least we brought blankets and pillows." I said, attempting to make the situation a little bit better. he just rolled his eyes at me.

"okay, this tent isn't going to magically be set up. let's go on a walk. I wanna explore." I grabbed his hand. at first, he was really tense, but then he loosened his resistance and laced his fingers with mine.

we found a path and walked along it for a while. there was a river alongside it and lots of beautiful trees. kian was admiring all of these views. we walked, hand in hand, for what seemed like forever.

we reached a little cliff, which gave the perfect view of the whole valley.

"I think it's almost sunset." kian said and he was right. about five minutes later, the sun began to set into the horizon. the once bright blue sky was now a deep lilac color. it was gorgeous.

"there's now one less thing on my bucket list." kian said as we were watching the sunset.

"what was it?"

"watching a sunset with my girlfriend." he said and I giggled.

the sun took awhile to finally set and I was getting tired. I was laying my head on kian's lap, which was the perfect pillow. I felt my eyes getting heavy and I soon drifted off into sleep.

-

I woke up to sounds of someone yelling. I opened my eyes and saw kian standing over me yelling about something.

"oh my god, there's a huge ass bear!" kian screamed. I scrambled to my feet and stood next to him. about ten feet ahead of us stood a gigantic black bear. it started approaching us, causing kian and I to move backwards.

"remember, no sudden movements." I whispered right as kian ran off towards the forest. I had no choice but to follow him.

the bear was quickly approaching and for something that large it moved extremely fast. I was trying to catch my breath and catch up to kian. I felt my legs getting tired and I was hoping that kian would stop running sometime soon.

I noticed that we were by our old campsite. "kian! stop running!"

he stopped and came over to where I stopped. he grabbed our failure of a tent off of the ground and attempted to find the opening so we could climb inside. he found it and we jumped it.

the tent was basically a giant sack which really did us no good. I don't know why kian thought this was a good way to hide from the bear. we stayed inside of the tent for a long time until we were sure that the bear was gone. I stuck my head out to make sure it was gone.

"well that was the worst camping experience ever." I said.

"this is your only camping experience." he replied as he started to collect our supplies.

"what even happened last night?" I asked.

"you fell asleep watching the sunset and you looked so cute that I didn't want to wake you up. I fell asleep too and when I woke up, there was a huge bear standing over me." kian said.

"if we ever go camping again, let's figure out how to work a tent first."

-
