Subject 305-b

Chapter 21

When Albero took off all of them were slamed into the back of the ship. Athena slamed into Nic after he had been slamed the back wall. Reyna and Albero were the only ones who was safely in a seat and buckled in. Then suddenly the craft dramaticly slowed down like it hit a wall. Both Nic and Athena fell to the ground which made Reyna laugh. Nic stood up and helped Athena up as well.

"Albero what the hell happened?" Nic asked.

"Well Ontereons gravity made the ship go faster but when we exited into no gravity the shiped seemed to slow down." Albero responded solemnly.

"But we are going the same speed." Reyna observed.

"Yes." Albero simply stated.

Nic stood there for a moment then he desided that he wa ted to show Athena something he found while they were all fixing the ship. He was the only one that knew about it so while Reyna and Albero where talking Nic pulled Athena away from the others and whispered,

"I want to show you something."

"What?" Athena asked.

"Look up."

Nic pushed a button and the ceiling of the ship opened up to reveal a see-through sealed glass. Athena gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. The stars and galaxies above them were beautifull. The stars reflected in Athena eyes as she gazed upon them.

"Their beautiful." Athena looked into Nic's eyes. "I could look at them all day."

"Yeah me to." Nic whispered.

Nic leaned closer to Athena until their lips met. Reyna turned around in to say something but when she saw Athena and Nic, arms wrapped around each other kissing, all she could do is smile. Athena is stubborn and hard headed but it obviouse where her heart lay. Her being in love with Nic, who is a human, Athena would change in a major way. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing but If Pandora was alive she wouldn't like it. Even now Athena was showing signs of the change. Nic would begin to notice if he already hasn't.

Nic pulled away from Athena and looked at her face, which was starting to look a lighter shade of purple. Athena didn't seem to notice or she didn't care. She placed her arms around Nic in a hug and Nic placed his head on top of hers. Nic let go and smiled, they walked over to Reyna and Albero and sat in the seat behind them. Athena laid her head on Nics shoulder and closed her eyes.

"How much longer?" Nic asked.

"Two, three hours maybe." Albero mumbled.

"Stai bene?" Nic asked. {Are you ok?}

"Starò bene ho solo bisogno di tempo..." Albero sighed. {I'll be fine I just need time}

"So come ti senti." Nic replied. {I know how you feel.}

"Cassandra, Tu la ami?" Albero asked. {You love her?}

"No. Credo che ho trovato il mio amore." Nic looked over at Athena. {No I think I have found my love.}

"Lei sa?" Albero wondered. {She knows?}

"No." Nic responded. "At least I don't think so."

"She does Nic." Reyna smiled.

Nic had forgotten that Reyna knew some Italian, he guessed she learned some by listening to him. Both Reyna and Nic looked over at Athena who was sound asleep with her head still propped up on Nics shoulder. Reyna shook her head and Nic just laughed.

"She can fall asleep anywhere." Reyna whispered. "Take her to a bed."

Nic laughed and carefully lifted Athenas head off his shoulder and picked her up in his arms. She wasn't as heavy as he expected her to be. She didn't even wake up when Nic laid her down on the bunk. He picked up the blanket abd was about to put it over her when he noticed something very odd. Her skin look like it was turning pink but he thought it could just be the lighting. So he just placed the blanket over his shoulders and kissed her forehead. Nic walked back over too Reyna and Albero who was still just sitting there. When Albero saw Nic at his side he said to him.

"You two go get some rest."

"Will you be okay alone?" Reyna asked.

"Yes, I'm a grown man Reyna I don't need a babysitter." Albero huffed.

Reyna raised her hands in defeat. "Alright"

Nic and Reyna walked side by side to the buck beds. Nic jumped when Athena reached out and grabbed his arm. She pulled him onto the bed with her. They sat backs to the wall faceing Reyna, she had laid down facing the wall. Athena had her hand interlocked with Nic's.

"Do you love me?" Nic suddenly asked.

Athena sat up straight and looked sort of shocked. They sat there for only a few minutes but it felt a century. Athena took a deep breath and looked over at Nic. Nic felt like he swallowed a boulder, he was worried that he asked her too soon. Her grip tighten in his hand.

"I do." Athena whispered. "But I need to show you something."

Athena lifted up her shirt sleeve to show Nic her arm. He didn't comprehen what he saw at first, her skin kept getting lighter it was now a pale pink color almost the shade of Nics. He thought it was the lighting earlier but now since Athena pointed it out he knew something was wrong.

"Wha.. what's happening to you?" Nic asked.

"When my people fall in love with a different race we change to the color they are. No one knows why." Athena explained.

Nic couldn't help to smile, Athena loved him and even her body showed it which he found very weird but he would never hurt her. Nic grabbed Athena's arm and studied it. The tattoos on her arm had even disappeared, Nic frowned.

"I'm not going to change." Athena smiled.

"You better not." Nic laughed. "I honestly don't care what color you are as long as your mine." He kissed her cheek and yawned.

Athena laughed when Nic plopped down on the bed and closed his eyes. She climbed onto the bed above him and laid down. She laid there smiling thinking about when she and Nic kissed for the first time, under the stars with nothing to worry about. She was glad that he wouldn't think any different of her with her skin being different. Pandora always had told bother her and Reyna to never fall in love with a different race, but if she saw how happy she was Pandora wouldn't care. Athena looked down at her sister who was sleeping peacefully. Reyna was falling in love with Albero even though she strongly disagreed. She was a stubborn one, always headstrong never wanting to admit she needed help. Athena smiled and shook her head, she thought too much. She rolled over on her side, pulled the blanket over her shoulder and fell asleep.
