I'm not alive.

"One of the odd things about being Sanitized is that...well, you can either be dead or not alive,"

Okay, let me explain.

"Most Octarians are permanently splatted before Sanitization, which is...bringing them back to life? I don't really get it, but that would make most soldiers zombies. Hmm...they do kind of look like zombies...

Moving on.

I was Sanitized when I was splatted (Not permanently). This is how the low-ranking Octarians are Sanitized, since they don't have loyalty issues. If you're Sanitized this way, instead of being revived, the Sanitization will actually slowly kill you. Well, not really. I'll talk about that later.

I was Sanitized this way because they needed someone with imagination to make music, and of course they couldn't take away my sanity, so they did this.

Well, this is more like being half-Sanitized. I could control myself for a while, but then I had to give in. But that's why I could be revived. I wasn't alive, but I wasn't dead.

But the two things that Sanitized and half-Sanitized share in common is that:

1. We both serve Commander Tartar,

And

2. We both don't have a heartbeat.

So yeah. Being Sanitized is like being hanging by a rope over a pit of death, knowing that whoever's at the other end of the rope won't ever pull you back up or let go.

But anyways, the doctor says that they'll have to leave a little bit of the Sanitization left or else I'll probably die. I mean, it's the only thing keeping me alive right now, and I'm pretty sure that if I'm completely "cured", my heartbeat's not gonna magically come back,"

Eight was pretty interested in the Sanitized, so I'm pretty sure she wrote down everything I said. Marie was awake and listening but I could tell she wanted to leave.

Four and Callie were half-asleep.

Three and Marina were missing.

Pearl was actually asleep.

I sighed. Oh well, I guess they're not all interested in this stuff...

I couldn't wait! I could play Turf War!

Eight, Marina and I were waiting for an elevator to bring us to the top of Deca tower. The stages were the Manta Maria and Piranha Pit. I had brought my Kensa Octobrush and Null Armor.

And finally, we were at Piranha Pit!

The first thing I noticed was that my hair was purple. The second thing I noticed was that we were put on a team with another Octoling who mained the Soda Slosher. I noticed that the other team had four Inklings.

Alright then. Squids versus Octos it is.

The first minute was a mess of paint, getting splatted, and Ink Mines (Someone had a Dynamo Roller). We were losing, and the giant screen with the map showed that our DANGER icon was flashing.

But I couldn't lose to these Inklings! We avoided the badly placed Ink Mines and all used our specials! With their team splatted, we quickly inked as much ground as we could.

5...4...3...2...1...

PURPLE TEAM WINS!

I had won my first Turf war! This was a day I'd never forget.
