My man was coming home. It was the end of the week and his business trip was through. I was so excited to have him back, I missed him insanely. Even Jupiter seemed happier than normal, as if he also knew his daddy was coming home.

I spent the whole day making his favourite foods, and cleaning the house. I wanted everything to be perfect when he arrived.

It was late in the evening when the door creaked open. I was dressed in a floor length red gown to welcome him.

But when my man stepped through the door, all thoughts left my mind.

Blood dripped from his lip, and his eye was puffy and swollen. It was clear he'd been beat up. Rushing to the bathroom, I got the first aid kit.

He was plopped down on the couch when I came back.

Working fast, I unbuttoned his shirt and examined the extent of his injuries. I pressed my hands against his chest and checked the see if he'd flinch, he didn't.

"You don't seem to have any broken or bruised ribs, but your face and arms are all gashed up. I'm going to clean those up and then stitch okay?"

My man just nodded mutely. He was clearly exhausted after whatever happened.

After disinfecting the wounds, I left to go find my sewing kit and some strong alcohol.

Making him drink the whiskey, I set to work.

He winced when the needle poked through flesh but didn't move or complain. We'd both been here before, we both knew the routine.

When his arms were done, I looked at his face.

My man, with his gorgeous tan skin and brilliant blue eyes. The left eye was swollen, and his face was ruthlessly discolored. Thankfully, no stitches were needed. The cuts on his face looked more like papercuts.

"What happened my love?" I asked stroking his hair.

He took a sip from the bottle before answering. "I was going to buy you roses when these rival guys jumped me."

I sighed.

I would protect my man, because he would protect me. Even if I couldn't fight for my man like he did for me, I would still protect him. I would protect him from infection and injury and disease.

No matter how fucked up they got him, I would be there to patch him up.
