I got the overwhelming feeling I was going to throw up. Jumping up from the couch, I ran to the bathroom and leaned over the toilet. Chunks of my breakfast fled from my mouth and I tried to shy away in disgust.
It seemed my body would only stop when everything was gone however, and I was resigned to this atrocious state until then.
My man was right behind me, holding my hair in his hands. "Baby? Baby are you alright?"
When I was done, I leaned back and slumped against the sink. I was exhausted and I had tear tracks running down my face.
"I feel so gross." I complained, my body feeling sore all over.
"Do you want me to take you to the doc Baby?"
I smiled at him. He was so caring, so attentive. "No, I think I'm fine now. Might've just been all the junk food."
The look of concern never left him as we made our way back to the couch to finish the rest of the movie. Right as the villain was about to trick the hero into something evil, I felt my body rapidly heat up.
Sweat started to drip down my forehead and I felt myself weaken under the strain. My man, attentive as ever, noticed and brought me an ice pack and water.
"I'm taking you to the doc Baby. You're sick. I'm going to get some things and then we'll go okay?"
"It's fine really, it's probably just a bug or something."
My man shot me a stern look and wandered off into the bedroom. I placed the ice pack against my head and waited for him to come back out.
He emerged with a bag in hand. "Alright, let's go."
The drive to the doc's wasn't long and soon he was helping me out of the car.
I don't know why but my I felt weak, like I just couldn't stand up properly. Apparently I couldn't because before I knew it my legs were giving way and my man was rushing to keep me standing. He dropped the bag and lifted me in his arms.
I think I must have blacked out because I don't remember how I got into the building or how I got into the bed with all the medical stuff sticking out of me. When I woke, I felt my head pound.
"Hey Baby, you thirsty? Here, have some water."
"What's going on honey?"
"The doc is doing some tests and uhm, I need to ask you something?"
"Yeah, of course. What is it?"
"When was the last time you, uh, got your period Baby?"
The dawning realization sent shock-waves through my spine. I was trembling a bit, the adrenalin taking over. I was excited, and a good deal terrified.
"You don't mean -"
"The doc is still doing some tests, but she's gonna come in later and do an ultrasound. Baby, if it is -" His eyes glittered. They, quite literally, sparkled with his tears.
We both waited in fearful excitement.
