Today was our two year anniversary. It was supposedly the anniversary of cotton but I'm pretty sure my man didn't know that.
Getting dressed, I set the brand new diamond necklace on my throat. The light reflected off the rocks in all different angles and I felt some of that light seeping into me. I smiled all giddy, knowing that this was only the beginning of it all.
My man came up behind me, looking ravishing in his fitted suit. His arms wrapped around my waist, lips on my cheek.
"You're stunning Baby."
I laughed and spun around to face him.
"I love you. I've loved you since the moment I met you."
He smiled and kissed me hard. I loved his kisses, they always left my head spinning afterward.
When we had arrived at the resturant, he led me to his table. It was at the very back with a clear view of the exits and an escape path through the kitchen. I didn't mind this though, I was determined to be happy today.
"Baby."
"Yes?"
"We've been going out for a while now yeah?"
"Yes love, we have."
"I've thought about this a lot, and I've been waiting on the timing for a while." He leaned close and encased my hands across the table. "Our lives are good right now. Your studies are going great and you're gonna make a fantastic vet. Business is good with me, and I'm moving up in the ranks. Hell, I'm so far up that I can afford to safely take you to a place like this."
He paused now, looking me deep in the eyes. After all these years, that blue never failed to wash away all my anxieties. "Baby, I am committed to you. And to Jupiter. I want to be a better man when I'm with you. I want to be responsible and caring. I want to protect and provide for you Baby. I want to marry you."
Fat tears were rolling down my cheeks now. He pulled his hands away and dug around in his coat pocket. A small black box was in his palm within seconds. He opened it.
The ring was stunning. 18 karat white gold, inlaid with sapphires, with a large diamond sat dead center. The diamond matched my new necklace and I started sobbing right then and there.
Taking the ring from the box, my man exhaled sharply. "Baby, will you do me the honour of marrying me? Will you make an honest man out of me?"
Finally I couldn't take it anymore. Leaning across the table I kissed him hard. My tears mixing with the taste of him. "God yes, always yes."
He was my everything, and soon he was going to be my husband.
There was no better happiness than this.
