Viel

Huminto na ang sasakyan. I see a plane outside the car.

"What is your angle here, Kairos?" basag ko sa katahimikan. I sulked like a child in the backseat.

His eyes flitted up the rear view mirror. It's the color of the sea and the gloomy weather. It was supposed to be a calming color. But in Kairos? They look like a swirling chaos. It pinned me on my seat.

"There is no angle here, poet. Maybe life just got too boring for me," he shrugged.

I scowled at him. Boring? I know things.

"A war with the Mancinis is boring, huh?" I mocked. "For sure, you lost a lot of your soldiers, captains, or underbosses. And you would risk another war with the Islas?"

Then a smile appeared on his face. It was not a friendly one. But one everyone should be wary of.

"You should work more on your mind play, poet. It sounds amateur," aniya. "Dapat nga ay magdiwang ka pa na dadami ang kalaban namin. Dahil 'yon ang magpapabagsak sa amin."

He narrowed his eyes like something just clicked.

"Ah," he raised his index finger. "Do you really want our fall or the opposite?"

Humataw ang aking pulso. Sa inis, galit, kaba, ewan ko! Ano ka ba, Viel? Sa inis yan syempre!

Bahagya siyang humalakhak. "Was that really a warning, Poet? Or are you worried for us?"

Nagsalubong ang aking kilay.

"Stop putting words in my mouth! Syempre ay babala 'yon. That's what every enemy would do... Wait!" I laughed in disbelief. "Actually, we are not enemies at all! The Islas are not doing anything to Despiadados. Hindi ko alam kung bakit nagsisimula ka bigla ng gulo!"

"My enemy's allies are also my enemies, Poet," he said.

Our fight was interrupted by a knock on the car door. Both our heads turned to the source of the sound.

I see some of Kairos's features in him. The difference is while Kairos's features are rough, menacing, and a bit playful, the other man's face is cold and calm. Kairos's violence is very evident when you look at him. But the man by the car window's violence is subtle. Subtle but you can feel it to the very core.

"All dead, boss," pagpapabatid niya.

Kairos only grunted in acknowledgement from his seat. Are they siblings? Or are their similarities just a coincidence?

The man smirked then poked his head in the car through the window. Then he waved at me.

"Nice to meet you, miss Islas. I've heard so much about you," he greeted.

I gave him a plastic smile. "Had we met in a circumstance where I am not your captive, I would've said nice to meet you too."

He peered at his brother through his lashes, gauging his reaction. Then it went back to me.

"I would like to know you more," he eyed me up and down. Not really up and down. Up and half? Well since I'm sitting, hindi niya makikita ang paa ko.

I winced while Kairos lowly growled.

"But not now. We have a lot of time for that in the next days," he winked.

"Fuck off or I'm gonna fucking shoot you," Kairos said lowly with a promise of violence.
