I tugged my lower lip with my teeth and blinked. Tahimik pa rin ako ngayon dahil nag eexpect ko na hindi tama ang narinig ko. O kaya naman ay isa na naman ito sa patibong niya at aasarin akong interesado kung sakaling sumagot ako.

Any minute now and he'll laugh.

Three,

Four,

Five seconds...

Damn it! Hindi pa rin?

"Speak," he demanded. "I said marry me. Mukha kang binagsakan ng langit at lupa. Most would deem it a promising offer."

Well, he won't be wrong. Parang binitbit ko na lang din sa balikat ko ang buong mundo kapag ikinasal ako sa kanya. It's just so wrong in so many ways. Heck no!

"Yan lang ang offer mo?" I asked quietly. Hinampas ko ang insektong dumapo sa braso ko. Damn, I must really smell like garbage if insects are coming this close to me.

He raised a brow at my question.

"Hindi ba pwedeng ibang kondisyon na lang?" I tried to negotiate. "I have expertise with computers. Maybe you can use my services in that."

He gave me a firm. "No."

I groaned in frustration. "Why does everyone assume I want to be a wife?! Everyone asks me that!"

Well at least Kairos had the courtesy to ask me first. Isang bagay na hindi ginawa ng aking papa. But still!

A glint of satisfaction crossed his face at my outburst.

"Better than silence," komento niya. He hauled out something from the pocket of his shorts. A liquor flask. I saw papa with that whenever we go out.

He took one gulp from the flask and offered it to me.

Umiling ako.

"Hindi ka umiinom?" tanong niya.

"I drink," sagot ko. "Hindi lang ako mahilig. It messes with my senses. Baka pa lasingin mo lang ako para pumayag ako sa kahibangan mo."

His abs tightened when he leaned back on the sofa. Pahiga kase ito. Why the fuck am I looking at his stomach?! Eyes off! Abort mission!

My eyes immediately shot up to his face. Too late, though. Amusement already sparked in his penetrating gaze. The moonlight glistened his eyes, making his blue grays appear as predatory like of the wolves.

"I don't resort to methods that make me appear feeble," he replied. "That's not really a good endorsement of my skill."

Pinanliitan ko siya ng mata.

"Marry me," aniyang muli. "Temporarily."

"Bakit?" tanong ko. "Para saan?"

"We're getting somewhere now," agad siyang tumuwid ng upo. "The Islas are attacking the Despiadados."

Tumawa ako. "At mapipigilan sila kung pakakasalan mo ako? My, my. Is Kairos De Cordova being a chicken? Hindi mo kayang lumaban?"

His mouth broke to a devilish grin.

"They made an offer," Kairos said. "Kung ibabalik kita, the Islas won't retaliate."

"And because you're you, you won't return me. You're provoking them two fold by marrying me in addition to not returning me," pagtatapos ko sa kanyang paliwanag.
