I sunk on our bed. My head felt light yet loaded at the same time. I have pieced a lot of puzzles but got overwhelmed with all of the revelations.
It was truly odd of my father to not retaliate against Kairos. To not give back as much as what was given to him. He can do worse, even.
He set me up to be with Kairos. And he never really intended to make me marry Harrison.
Massaging my temples, I desperately hoped all these information would get pushed at the back of my head, at isa isa lang silang dumaloy sa isipan ko. I feel like I'd faint any second. How can one conversation drain energy out of me when I was only sitting?
"Why the fuck weren't you answering the door?"
Napatalon ako sa gitla sa presensya ni Kairos na hindi ko napansin. Hawak niya ang susi at galit na galit akong tinignan. A few lines on his face appeared and his nostrils flared, which was an indicator of how pissed he was at me. And now that I have my full attention on him, I noticed how he's restraining himself. Judging by the tension in his muscle, he looked ready to go berserk.
Kumunot ang aking noo. "W-what?" I don't understand anything.
"Why didn't you answer the door, Vivendel?" Mas mariin niyang ulit.
"Bakit galit na galit ka na agad? The door was just locked at di ko lang narinig kung may kumatok man."
"My brothers have been knocking for minutes, Vivendel. Minutes! And you expect me to remain calm when you're unresponsive?" Parang mas pinabaga ko lang lalo ang galit niya.
I looked up at the camera feed he has in our room. Tinuro ko 'yon.
"If you wanted so badly to know what was happening, bakit hindi mo chineck ang camera feed sa cellphone mo? Mayroon ka, diba?"
Bumaling din siya roon. Napahilamos siya sa kanyang mukha. Mukhang nalimutan niyang may cameras dito sa kwarto.
He uttered curses. Tinalikuran niya ako at patuloy na nainis sa akin at sa sarili niya. Ilang segundo ay humarap uli sa akin.
"Come here," he pointed between his feet.
"No!"
Nag angat siya ng kilay. "Is this how you hand over your life? You forget who owns you now."
Thinking back, what I said was damn cheesy.
Sighing, I obeyed without much choice. What an infuriating man. I kept the defiance in my eyes despite his perfect face alone crushing my resolve.
I acted bored in front of him while inside, everything in me approved of being near him. My system were thirsty bitches who wanted a fill of his scent, the thrill of being close to this ruthless man, and his attentive eyes.
But of course, my husband did not buy my nonchalance. He always saw through me. His mouth twitched.
Pinulupot niya ang kanyang bisig sa aking bewang at inilapit ako sa kanya. Too close, I can smell his minty mouthwash from this morning. Sinuklay niya ang kanyang daliri sa aking buhok. I closed my eyes and sighed at the feel of his fingers on my scalp.
When I opened my eyes, his burned with need. Like a wild beast who relished at finally seeing a prey.
"You never looked at me like that before,"sabi ko bago ko pa mapigilan ang sarili. It was the first thing that went straight in my mind.
"Like what, cariño?"
Like he wanted me. Like he desired to possess me in all ways, put me in a cage, and never let me out to be seen by another's eyes.
