That night, Antti was lying on his bed, restless. The tapping of the rain of his window and the thoughts of never being able to play hockey kept him up. But it didn't take him that long to make up a plan to start off his dream.
Antti jumped out of his bed and went to the closet in the hallway. There, he searched for skates that were his size. Then he grabbed his coat, scarf, and beanie and headed out of the house, full of determination and ambition.
When he arrived at the school lake, the rain had turned into a misty drizzle and the moon was glowing through the thick clouds, making the sky purple. Even though it was a frigid, Finnish night, that didn't stop Antti from learning how to skate on his own.
Antti took off his boots and shoved the skates onto feet. He lumbered over to the lake and with a deep breath, he got on it.
It took him a while to get the hang of skating. With a few falls and slips, he was able to get the hang of skating...beginner skating. But while Antti was trying to skate around the lake as fast as he could, the tripped over a bump and went flying, tumbling onto the ice hard. It didn't hurt him and he recovered quickly since he was protected by the bundle of clothes he was wearing.
Antti got up quickly, waving his arms to gain balance. He dusted his coat and straightened it; he was about to resume skating when he heard a loud CRACK!!!
He looked down and saw jagged lines appearing benath him. Antti began to panick as he saw the ice cracking and snapping under his skates. He began to skate as fast as he could out of the lake before he was taken under, but he was a bit too slow....
The lake grabbed Antti and pulled him into the freezing lake. He began to flail his arms and legs everywhere, trying to swim, but it did not help him one bit.
"HELP!!!" Antti screamed underwater. "HEL--" He stopped himself yelling and panicking. "Whoa...I can...I can talk underwater..." His eyes widen with shock. "And I can breathe." He chuckled. "Hey, I'm not drowning!" He looked at the sandy dirt that was coming closer to him slowly. "But I'm certainly sinking." He hit the bottom of the lake and sat on it. "Well then, this is interesting." Antti looked around, trying to find a way to get out. He didn't know how to swim and the lake was bare with nothing for him to climb on. He sighed and placed his face on his hands. "Why did I even think about this in the first place?" He looked up at the moonlight that was now shining on him. "Now I'm stuck here...forever. At least I'm not dead. But how can I get out?" He looked around his surroundings in fear. "Only...only if something can get me out..."
Suddenly, the surface of the lake began to move closer to Antti; the closer he was getting, the faster he was approaching.
"Whoa! What is going--!" Antti's voice was cut off by the roaring of water when he blasted through the surface. A wave was holding him up, bringing him way above the lake. "This is awesome!!!" He looked down and saw the broken ice on the lake and the holes he created. "Bring me down." The wave began to rolled back down to the shore and Antti slid off it. The wave splashed onto the lake, seeping back into the water part of it through the ice's cracks.
Antti looked at himself and saw that he was wet...very wet. "I'm gonna get killed for this," he muttered.
The water that was making him wet got off of him and floated right in front of him. "Whoa." Antti cupped the water and it turned into a medium sized water ball. A smirk appeared on his face and he threw it at the lake.
The force of the water caused the lake to pracitcally explode, breaking all the ice that was once on the lake.
"That's so cool!!!" Antti yelled with awe. He looked down at his hands. "I have powers!" He looked back at the lake. "Water powers!"
