On New Year's Eve in Los Angeles, Jonathan Quick was watching TV all alone in his living room after he got back from playing a game against the Sharks.
The news reporter on the TV was babbling on and on about crimes that happened in Los Angeles, not really capturing Jonathan's attention... But then something during the news report did.
The news channel posted up a picture of a criminal on the screen, asking the audience to look out for him, since he is wanted by the police.
And that criminal looked exactly like Jonathan himself.
Jonathan's brown eyes widened. "What the? Is that me?" he asked with a deep voice; he leaned closer to the TV. "Nooo, that can't be, that's not how I smile." He sat back on the sofa. "Well, I hope the police doesn't mistake me for that dude. I'm the goalie of the Kings, I already got enough money to not do crime." He stoped talking for a moment. "But to be safe, I should try to avoid the police." He sighed. "I should just go to bed." He turned off the TV and walked out of the room.Meanwhile in downtown LA, the Penguins were together, walking down the crowded sidewalks.
"Okay guys, this is what you wanted: to spend the New Year's Eve in LA! And here we are!!!" Coach Dan Bylsma pumped his fist in the air.
"Can we have our pizza party here?" Tyler Kennedy asked.
"No, let's hit a bar!" Brandon Sutter shouted.
"What about the fireworks? There should be fireworks," Pascal Dupuis told them.
"Let's go to the zoo and see the gorillas!" Chris Kuntiz said with his eyes in awe.
"You guys can do whatever you guys want to do--this is your freetime," Bylsma told them. "Buuuuuut do not get into trouble. Okay?"
The Penguins agreed.
"Yea, Vokoun, don't get into trouble! You better listen to coach!" Marc-André Fleury warned Tomáš Vokoun.
"Hey!" Vokoun shouted.
"When are we leaving?" Sidney Crosby asked in a kiddish voice.
"We're leaving tomorrow afternoon," Bylsma replied.
"Alright..."The next morning, around 5:00 am, Jonathan decided to take a brisk walk in the dark around his neighborhood since no one would be up at such an early time.
"Well, this is nice," he mutters to himself. "All quiet and alone...oh yes, a great way to start the year..."
Suddenly, a police car zoomed past Jonathan with no warning.
"Whoa, ho, the police!" Jonathan stopped walking and looked at it slowing down. "Wait...the police..." He begans to laugh. "Ah ha, they didn't see me, good. Last thing I want is for them to mistake me as..."
Jonathan's voice began to fade as he saw the police car making a sharp U-turn with squeals and blasting towards him.
"Uh oh... No, no, no, NO!" Jonathan turned around and began running as best as he could away from the speeding police car.
He began to look for asylum, and found one as an abandoned house a few feet away. "Good." He jumped over the small gate and rolled into the unlocked house.
But about four police cars parked in front of the house and entered it, cornering Jonathan.Meanwhile, a few yards away, Sidney was walking by himself with Bubby Jr.
"Oh, Bubby Jr., isn't this nice? Just you and I?"
Bubby Jr. just stared at him with his shiny, black eyes.
"Yea, yea, I'm sorry that Bubby couldn't come--y'know, your father's a bit too big to carry."
Bubby Jr. kept staring at Sidney.
"Hey, I clearly did not say that Bubby was fat, I just said that your father was..." Sidney's voice trailed away as he looked up and saw the police cars in front of the abandoned house. "Ooo, there's police action going on! Let's check it out, they wouldn't mind a few witnesses!" He cautiously jumped over the fence and peeked into the house.
There he saw Jonathan tied up to a chair with about five policemen interrogating him and about another three just walking around the room, guarding it.
Sidney gasped. "Is that Jonathan Quick of the Kings?" He looked down at Bubby Jr. with a horrified look.
Sidney rocked Bubby Jr. back and fort like as if he was nodding. He the leaned more into the house, waiting until the police were busy wi something else other than Jonathan. "Psst! Jonathan!"
Jonathan looked up at Sidney. "Crosby?"
"Aren't you a goalie?"
Jonathan shrugged. "Apparently to them, no."
Sidney looked at the policemen, who were busy writing on notepads, then back at Jonathan. "Don't worry, I'll getcha out--" He stuffed Bubby Jr. into his jeans' pocket.
"No, you don't have to--"
Sidney jumped into the house. "What are you LA policemen trying to do with my friend, Jonathan Quick?"
Jonathan wanted to slap himself when he heard Sidney calling him, 'friend,' but couldn't since he was tied up.
"Who are you?" one policeman asked harshly.
"I'm Sidney Crosby! How can you not recognize me? Shame!"
"Get out!" another policeman snapped.
"No! Jonny's not a bad guy!" Sidney pointed to Jonathan. "He wouldn't do a crime!"
"Jonny? That's not his name!" a policeman exclaimed.
"Yes it is because that's Jonathan Quick! Goalie of the LA Kings!"
"That's not him! Now get out for the last time or else you're gonna end up like 'im!" A policeman nodded towards Jonathan, who looked surprised.
"No!" Sidney quickly extended his hand towards the policeman and ice bits shot sprayed out from his hands. The ice bits landed next to the police's feet and stuck to each other and grew up to his knees, locking his feet in solid ice on the wooden ground.
Jonathan's eyes widen at what Sidney had just done; so did the all policemen.
The other policemen began to run towards Sidney as he rushed over to Jonathan. He turned around and he defended himself and Jonathan by raising walls of ice up from the ground.
"C'mon, Jonny!" Sidney ran over to the back of Jonathan's chair and began to pull and tug at the rope. "Whew, this is hard! I can't free you!"
"Don't worry, I got it." Jonathan flung his arms out, ripping the rope. He slipped out of the rest and walked over to Sidney.
"You thought about that just now, right?"
"Yup--"
Jonathan's voice was cut off by the banging and crunching and cracking of the policemen trying to get through Sidney's ice walls.
"Let's go before they get you!" Sidney grabbed Jonathan's hand and ran out through the back door and rounded the house to go to the front, where more police cars were waiting for them.
They saw them and started chasing after them with lights and sirens.
"They'll catch up to us quickly like this!" Sidney turned to Jonathan. "Can you fly?"
"Can I fly, can I fly...?" Jonathan muttered between hard puffs. "Yea, yea, yea, yea, I can fly. Can you?"
"That's why I asked you! Let's fly!" Sidney sprayed ice next to his feet, creating a not-so-perfect circle-shaped snowboard that was made out of ice and began to spray more ice in front of him, creating a path to make him slide into the sky.
"Neat." Jonathan extended his hands far from himself then quickly moved them perpendicular to his body, creating a kind-of-glowing, translucent, purple forcefield. He moved his hands straight out behind him, cause the force field to lift off the ground quickly with speed.Meanwhile, about a mile and a half away, Antti is walking with Patrick in Downtown LA.
"What, dude? The EHP is back, man?"
"Yup."
"Oh no!!!" Patrick placed his hands on his cheeks. "We need to fight 'em, dude, bring 'em down, man!" He began jumping a bit, jabbing the air with his fists
"Easier said than done."
"But what are we gonna do, dude, what are we gonna do?!"
"I don't know. That's Brian's job, not mine."
"Well, let's hope he knows what he's doing, man, 'cause I don't want to NHL to be controlled by...by..." Patrick made a confused look. "Who's in the EHP, dude?"
"Jimmy Howard...Ben Bishop? Yea, and...who else, who else..."
"Ovechkin, man? He looks evil, dude."
"Yea, yea, yea, him--"
"Yes, I guessed right, man!" Patrick brought his fist down with a smirk. "What about Giroux, dude?"
"Giroux...no..."
"Aw, uh, Crosby, man? No, no, no, Crosby looks to nice to be evil, dude."
"I know there's one more... Uh..." Antti snapped his finger, trying to remember the name. "It was something like 'Sale,' no... 'Tag,' no, that's not a last name..."
"Price, man?"
"Yea, that's his last name!" Antti pointed at Patrick excitedly.
"Carey Price, then, dude."
"Yes, that's him."
"Eh, yea, he can be evil, man. Can picture that, dude..." They made a turn. "I wonder what powers they have, man..."
"I bet Gorman knows that. I should ask him that question."
"Gorman...?" Patrick looked up and his eyes widened as big as saucers. "AAAAHHH!!!"
"What the--"
SLAM!!!
Antti and Patrick saw a blur of purple, blue, and white slam into them. They held on to whatever crashed into, since they were now in the air, but they were going down into a crash landing.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
They crashed smack right into the middle of an intersection, where the on coming traffic was speeding right towards them.
"NOOOO!!!" A guy with a white collared shirt and brown, spiky hair quickly stood up and created a force field around them.
An eighteen-wheeler crashed against the force field, causing it to flip into the air and above them, toward the road behind them. The rest of the cars screeched to a halt, making Jonathan redirect his force field to only those cars, creating a force field wall.
"Oh shoot, dude!" Patrick, from the ground, loaded his bow and arrow with quick reflexes and shot an arrow up that had black string that was connected to his bow at a buidling that was next to the huge truck; the arrown spun around a part of an antenna, locking itself.
Patrick tugged at his bow to make sure that the arrow was secured, then threw his bow at the rig with great force. The string that was connected to the bow wrapped around the huge vehicle and locked itself to another antenna that was on another nearby building, having it suspended in mid air.
A familiar looking person that crashed into Antti and Patrick with wavy brown hair and a young look saw what Patrick did and sprayed ice at the string and where the string touched the wheeler, making sure the string doesn't snap.
"Sidney Crosby? The Sidney Crosby?!" Patrick's eyes widen in awe at Sidney.
"Yup!" Sidney smiled.
The police came along by foot and car.
"There you are! Sheriff!" one policeman shouted.
The sheriff got off and walked over to the guy with the spiky hair, looking at him with inquiring eyes. "Guys, this ain't who we're lookin' for--this is Quick from the Kings! Get your faces right!"
"Jonathan Quick, man?" Patrick gaped at Jonathan, getting up.
Jonathan just shrugged and smirked.
"Oh, sorry, sheriff... And sorry, Quick."
"That's okay, just don't do that again." Jonathan dusted his shirt.
"Alright, let's check out this mess, then." The sheriff began walking around, humming while looking around the scene. "No one's hurt?"
They shook their heads.
The sheriff grabbed a megaphone from a policecar and yelled in it: "IF YOU ARE NOT HURT, GIVE ME A THUMBS UP!!!"
Everyone in the cars and pedstrains gave a thumbs up, including the driver of the eighteen-wheeler.
"Wanna have breakfast after this?" Antti asked Jonathan and Sidney.
"Sure, I'm starving!" Sidney rubbed his stomach.
"I'm up for breakfast," Jonathan said.
"Alright good...'cause there're some things I'll like to talk to you guys about..."
