Chapter 4: A Snowy Wonderland, Pt. 1

"The hell was that?" Flowey asked, looking around.

"I don't know, but it ain't just the two of us in here." You replied, looking back and noticing the broken branch. You weren't that scared, since your bat would be sufficient enough to fight anyone, even though you didn't want to.

Continuing on to a wooden bridge and post, you heard some footsteps getting closer and closer, but at this point, you were too scared to look back.

"Hey! I don't care about who you are, but you better not hurt them!" Flowey yelled. You were a bit taken back from this, surprised he's defending you for once.

The footsteps stopped as soon as a voice spoke up, "Human, shake my hand. Don't you know how to greet a great pal?"

You eased up and turned around, looking at the black figure who now had his hand out. You shook it and a whoopie cushion loudly played. Now the figure was revealed, a skeleton in a blue fur jacket and black track shorts with pink slippers. You felt a bit relieved seeing he approached you like this, instead of violence.

"heya kid, I'm sans. sans the skeleton. i feel like you've been down here before."

"Oh um, when I was younger, I fell down here, actually." You said.

"oh. if that's the case, that means the kid I teleported must be you, right?" He asked.

"Yep. You can call me uhh..." You didn't feel comfortable telling him your name, so you gave him a fake one. "Frisk! My names Frisk. Anything wrong?"

"alright. my brother captures humans, you're lucky he hasn't seen us yet. anyway, lets go." As he spoke, you realized Flowey glared at him, and Sans pretended to not see him. Nonetheless, you silently followed him.

"Thanks for defending me back there, Flowey." You whispered to him, then tugged one of his petals to get a reaction out of him.

"You're welc- hey stop! I won't hesitate to kill you!" He whisper‐yelled back. You laughed at this.

"But you wouldn't, right?" You asked.

He rolled his eyes and ignored you.

Sans stopped and you did as well. "he's right up there, and he should be turning around any second now. so hurry over to that lamp right there, if you wanna save yourself." Instead of listening, you decided to wait and see what happens. Sans didn't stop you either.

His brother turned around and began hastily strutting towards you. He didn't seen to notice until he blurted, "OH MY GOSH! IS THAT A HUMAN?"

"Yeah I'm a human. With a flower. You're gonna catch me, right?" You said.

"WHY YES, HUMAN. I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL CAPTURE YOU BOTH!" He remarked.

"Don't you dare touch Frisk!" Flowey hissed.

Papyrus cleared his throat and ignored him. "BUT FIRST, YOU SHALL COME ALONG WITH ME AT ONCE AND SOLVE THESE PUZZLES TO KEEP YOUR FREEDOM. COME FORTH WHEN YOU'RE READY." He said, striking a confident pose and running off into the distance.

"he's a hassle, but he's cool. right, kid?" Sans said, winking an eye.

"I agree, but I'm sure he won't actually capture me, right?" You questioned.

"huh? no. he's too kind and innocent to capture one. but don't tell him i said that."
You laughed at this, but you noticed Flowey looks a bit upset with you. You said your goodbye to Sans and began walking to another star in the distance, then grasped it in your own. You then sat down next to it and decided to talk to Flowey, since he looks a bit disappointed in the moment. Putting the pot in your lap, you turned him facing you.

"Flowey, is there something bothering you?" You asked, leaning close into his face.

"N-no! I just don't want anyone hurting you!" He replied, blushing.

"And why's that?" You straightened up.

He looked up at you and then looked back down. "When you first left, I was really cold to you, remember? I wanted to kill you. But then, I realized something. You really only talked to me and left... but then again, that was the first time I've ever spoken to someone after ages! Now that I realize you forgave me and wanted me as a friend, I can't help regret ever trying to hurt you. You see, my best friend, Cha-" He paused, then began again.

"Chara... she's gone... she was my best friend and was a sister to me. Now that she's gone, I only have you, (Y/N)." He sighed, more visibly upset and tears now welled up in his eyes.

You rubbed them away for him and tried to comfort him. "I'm sorry I left, I was just a kid. My mom would've been worried sick. Then again, it's okay, flowey. I'm here for you. Even if you tried killing me now, I'll forgive you. Let's be best friends, okay?" You said.

He began to smile. "Yes! As long as you stay. Oh and thank you, (Y/N). Maybe one day can we be- no, nevermind... let's get done with these two." His gaze shifted away from yours.

You chuckled and got up, picking up Flowey while you were at it. You began walking up to Papyrus and Sans, in which they must've heard your footsteps since the moment you took 3 more steps, they turned around in Sync.

"OHOHO! HUMAN WITH THE FLOWER ARRIVES! YOU HAVE THIS PUZZLE TO SOLVE!" Papyrus loudly said, as a paper descented from the sky. You approached it, sat down, and put your bat and Flowey's pot to the side. Reaching in your bag, you retrieved a pen and notebook, so you placed the paper on on top of it and looked at it, but the brothers began arguing.

"SANS!! THAT IS NOT THE PUZZLE AT ALL!" Papyrus said furiously.

"oh. the kid will solve it anyway. even you can't solve it." You began to ignore the two and examine the paper.

It was just some daily scramble for kids. Flowey watched as you quickly finished it in mere seconds, regathered your things, and stood up.

"I'm done!" You shouted. The brothers stopped their supposed argument and walked over towards the two of you.

"wow kid, ya did it. wasn't that hard?" Sans said with intention of annoying Papyrus.

"FORGET IT! I HAVE IMPOSSIBLE ONES EVEN THE GREAT PAPYRUS HIMSELF CANNOT SOLVE!" Papyrus remarked as he turned around and began strutting down the pathways.

"i guess he wasn't too mad about that. anyway, have fun, kid." Sans began walking in the opposite direction. You were confused a little, but then you remember he can teleport. With Flowey by your side, you drug your bat through the snow, making a nice trail through it. You and Flowey solved all of Papyrus' "impossible" puzzles rather quickly, and both had your fair share of laughter and conversations.

You were laughing a bit too hard, until you fell face-first, hurting yourself, and breaking Flowey's pot. "(Y/N)! Are you okay?!" Flowey said, concern in his voice. You lifted your head up slowly, and it felt like the world was spinning. You weren't injured, just very dazed from the impact. But you nodded and realized the pot was broken. "I'm fine... but the pot..."

"(Y/N), forget the pot, all that matters right now is you. I can just wrap myself-." Flowey stopped, looked around, then went into the ground. You tried heard some footsteps approaching as you tried to push yourself up, but then all you remember next was darkness...
