"Hello, hello," I announce myself, stepping into the main conference room of the Castillo Corp. I put down the laptop I was carrying in my arms in front of my seat at the head of the table. Then I pass out the files my new assistant, Lourdes, had waiting for me. Papá and Joseph agreed on hiring her to help me catch up on the work I've missed these past few months.

When I reach Joseph, I smile handing him the file. "Hi, how are you?"

"I'm good, Ms. Castillo It's nice to have you back."

"Some of us would rather it be Joseph continue being our boss while you were gone doing who knows what," John, the Chief Marketing Officer says, grabbing my attention.

"May I ask you a question, Mr. Lewis?" I continue passing out the files to the rest of the chief officers around the table until I reach my seat where I stand in front of, waiting for his response.

"Of course, Ms. Castillo."

"You do know about my life away from the company, right?"

"What life?" He asks with a scoff.

"The life where you are working for the next leader of the Castillo Mafia? The family pretty much owns the city of Chicago. And not that it's any of your business, but I was . . . what's the word? Taken hostage by an enemy." John's body stiffens as does everyone else's except Joseph. My guess is because he already knows what happened to me. "Welcome to my life in the underworld as the Castillo Mafia's heiress and the next leader in the upcoming weeks." Exhaling, I take my seat and scoot in until I'm close enough to the table then open my laptop. "Now that we got that out of the way, I'd like to thank Mr. Mullins for taking over in my absence. Let's get started because we have a lot of work to get done."
