"I'm thankful for my years spent with this family—for everything we shared, every chance we had to grow. I'll take the best of them and lead by their example, wherever I go. A friend told me to be honest with you, so here it goes. This isn't what I want, but I'll take the high road. Maybe it's because I look at everything as a lesson, or I don't want to walk around angry, or maybe it's because I finally understand. There are things we don't want to happen, but have to accept; things we don't want to know, but have to learn, and people we can't live without, but have to let go." – Jennifer Jareau
"Hotch, help us."
Hotch nodded his head then walked out of the room; Spencer's arms still wrapped tightly around your waist. When he heard Hotch start to walk away, he slowly let go of you to look you in the eyes.
"Please don't think this is your fault because I can promise you that it is absolutely not your fault. Ok?" He says this while his hands are on your shoulders, and he is looking down at you. His eyes are piercing yours and you lose your train of thought very easily when he brings you back to reality. He looks away from you and looks behind you.
"Hey Emily." He says with a little smile.
"Hey Spence, Y/n. How are you two holding up in here?" She says while she looks around the small, cramped room.
You place your hands on the bars of the cell when one of the officers tells you to step back, you do so, not wanting to cause any problems. When you back away, you look at your hands to see small pieces of rust that had come off of the bars. You knew this cell was bad but not this bad. You hear Spencer speak, "It's uh... not that bad. Just a little weird to be the behind the bars." He then lets out a small awkward laugh.
Emily lets out a small laugh and then turns her head to you. "You doing ok in there, Y/n/n?"
You let out an exhale, "Yep. Doing just fine."
Spencer looks at you when you turn around to face him. "Spence can you please go to the other side of the cell? I need to speak to Em." You say softly to which he looks at you with gentle eyes.
"Of course, I'll give you two space." He turns around and walks to the other side of the cell. He knows that this is hard for you because you feel like it's your fault. Your messed up life got him here. You know that all he wants to do is help you, but you just want to get him out. He doesn't deserve to be behind bars. You look behind you and you see Spencer dragging his back against the cell wall as he goes to sit the ground.
You turn to Em who has a weird look on her face.
"What was that?"
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean 'what do I mean'? You know something that you won't say in front of Spence."
"I don't know anything you don't know. I just know that if I say something like this in front of him, he will lose his mind. I need your help?"
"My help? With what?"
"Well Em, a lot considering I'm in a jail cell."
"Ok your right, but seriously, what do you need?"
"I need you to get Spence out. Even if it means I stay."
"What? No way if I get him out, I'm getting you out too."
"Emily stop. Be realistic. Think about it, the police have absolutely nothing against him. The drugs were found in my apartment, not his. He also doesn't live with me and there's no proof that he even stays with me sometimes. The police have nothing on him, it's all on me. So, get him out, leave me in. I know you will get me out because I believe in you, and I believe in the team. Just please, Emily, if you value me at all, you will get him out."
