Chapter Forty Seven: The Worthy Take Control

Bridge Winters, Anna Makarova and Phinehas Maze were marching through New Dawn with the Phoenix Militia, Peacekeepers Unit and American Tribal Warriors, fighting Legion soldiers and detaining the Privileged. The battle had gone on for nearly an hour and was in measurable distance to its end. More then half of New Dawn was now under the control of either the Allied Forces, or revolting groups of slaves that sought vengeance against the Privileged for all the hardships they had endured. The largest group was being led by Leon Zaitsev, a devout Communist whose Russian grandparents had taught him that money should have never of existed in the first place, as it "destroyed the family relation" as they put it and so he wanted a society without money. The reason for Leon being made a Worthy was because he was a successful journalist working for the New York Times and often reported on the poverty and wars in other countries. When he was offered to become one of the Privileged as a thanks for his reporting, he flat out refused and was made a Worthy as a result, a mere slave to the Privileged, with a desire to overthrow them and bring about revolution to New Dawn.

The Allied Forces stormed into the massive hall that served as an ultra luxurious restaurant. It was the size of a football field and was now an all out warzone. Rioting Worthy were beating guards to death and threatening to kill the Privileged unless they repented of their crimes. But of course, only some of the Worthy were threatening, others were just killing outright as Leon preached "Let the most evil of the Privileged pay for their crimes in blood and find forgiveness in the ones who renounce their sins and their undeserved wealth". The Allied soldiers began shooting in the air to get the rioters to stop and as the Worthy froze in shock and the Privileged put their hands up, surrendering to the Allied Forces, Bridge jumped onto a table with a red cloth over it and looked at the Privileged with an intense anger in his eyes. Bridge shook his head in disappointment and said "You so called "Privileged" should all be ashamed of yourselves!" The Privileged looked shocked as Bridge spoke. They all now understood that the Unity Order was a lost cause and that the Allied Forces nearly had full control of New Dawn, so they just listened as Bridge said "While everyone else out there was dying, you relished in all of this bloody luxury and went along with the Unity Order's plans of global GENOCIDE!"

Many of the Worthy and Allied Forces cheered Bridge as he spoke and listened well as Leon said "A long time ago, society gave you its trust. This time you'll have to earn that trust. As of this very moment, you are all hereby stripped of your wealth, tuxedos, designer clothes, ball gowns and jewellery. Those of you who did not hurt any of the Worthy shall be given one last chance to make something of your lives here in New Dawn. You will live among us as equals and you will remain under supervision for as long as I deem fit". The Privileged who had not hurt or killed any of the Worthy using the Microchips looked shocked at what Leon was saying. While many accepted it as the battle was lost, some refused the very idea. One very spoilt young man angrily snarled "There is no way that I am going to be as pathetic as you people!" Leon looked at the spoilt teenager with shocked eyes and said "Your one to talk! Showing off your wealth and harassing people just because you think you can! Not to mention thinking that everyone will love you for your wealth and not considering that they will despise you for your unacceptable behaviour! There is nothing more pathetic than a spoilt young man who takes pleasure in harassment and only cares for himself!"

Blake's face turned red with rage as he ran at Leon with his arms poised as if to strangle him, but Sebastian knocked Blake out with one swift punch. Blake fell to the ground with a black eye and yelled "He hit me!" Sebastian scoffed and said "Yeah, only because you tried to attack someone". As Blake was about to charge at Sebastian, a Phoenix Militiaman and a Peacekeeper grabbed him and handcuffed him while keeping him restrained on the floor. As Blake angrily screamed and yelled profanities at Leon, his mother fell to her knees and started sobbing. As tears swelled up in her eyes "This is all my fault. I made him think that he was more important because of what he had and I spoiled him!" As tears fell down her face, her husband put his hands on her shoulders to comfort her and said "He just needs help and some discipline. Hopefully he will get that in due time". Blake's father, Harold, then stood up and said to the Worthy "When the Order told us of their plans, we only went along with it because we did not want to end up slaves like you. I now realise that I should've stood up to them like a man and died with honour. Just like my dear ancestor who fought on the side of the Union in the Civil War, Colonel Carter Clay. For months now I have gone along with the Order's plans for genocide only so that I could protect my family, but at the same time I helped ruin your lives and dishonoured my family name. So I hereby apologise and ask not for forgiveness, but for a chance at making amends for my sins". 

Many Worthy had looks of suspicion, but most knew that Harold was being sincere. Leon then stepped down from the table and said "You will get that chance now that I am in command of New Dawn". Everyone looked at Leon with confusion as Bridge asked "Excuse me?" Leon then explained to the Privileged, Worthy and Allied Forces "While we are now free, we must also be equal. You now have two choices, you can be locked up for life along with whoever is still loyal to the Unity Order's authoritarian load of nonsense, or, you can do what Mr Clay and so many of the Worthy in this very room have done and join me. If you do, you'll not be a part of an "Order", but a Commune in which all citizens will be seen as equals. Under my command, we won't let needless distractions such as money corrupt us into the worst versions of ourselves and we won't be needlessly wasting precious time on satanic things such as population control. What we will do... is attend to everyone's needs so long as they work to produce what the entire Commune needs. To hell with the money and the system of Capitalism. I strongly insist that you make up your minds".

Almost immediately, the Worthy started cheering Leon and chanting his name. Understanding the the Unity Order was lost, Harold said "Very well then. Perhaps this is for the best considering the evils that have been committed here". Bridge then shook hands with Leon and said "Good luck with the Commune. I hope that goes well". Leon smiled at the thought of what the Commune would become and about how it would be a new start for all of the Worthy, Privileged and Legion. Of course said titles wouldn't exist anymore, from then on they would simply be known as citizens. Leon then said to Bridge "I am certain that the Commune will be successful, but for now we must focus on the larger task at hand". Bridge agreed and said "Exactly and that would be stopping the Unity Order for good". The Allied Forces and Worthy cheered at this, but Blake angrily swore at Bridge as he was being forced to his feet and screamed "I'll kill you you failed abortion!" Everyone gasped in shock and appalment at what Blake had said! Anna then marched over and slapped Blake in the face and said "How dare you say such a horrible thing you nasty and disgusting person!" As Blake was dragged away, some people booed him and threw either plates or shoes at him. Bridge then stood atop one of the tables and said "Come on everyone! Let's go find the Executive Committee and give them what four!" The Allied Forces and Worthy cheered Bridge on as he, Leon, Phinehas, Sebastian, Jonah and Anna led them all to the upper levels, where they would come face to face with the man who had caused this entire apocalypse in the first place: Supreme Warden Damon Adams.
