Before the marking I desperately wanted to be his mate, but now I've grown closer to Zayne and my feelings for Randi are slowly shifting.

I needed some fresh air. I grab my jacket and sneak out through the window.

I walk to the lake where Zayne and I were attacked by rogues. The darkness loomed everywhere, the only light was from the full moon above. Walking down the shore I stop and pick up a pebble and toss it into the water.

"You should work on your aim."

I heard a voice and turn to see, "Zayne?"

"How did you know I was here?"

"Don't think I followed you. I always come here when I need to think." He says while walking nearer to me but keeping his distance; he bends down and picks up a rock.

"You're doing it wrong. Your arm and wrist are too stiff."

"Excuse me but I didn't realize that there's a science to tossing a rock."

He whispers in my ear. "Here let me help." He takes the rock and properly places it between my fingers then moves slightly behind me and lightly grabs my wrist, he controls my arm and I watch in amazement as the rock flies across the surface of the lake.

"What were you thinking about?" I quietly ask.

He pauses, throws one last rock before dropping the rest back onto the ground. He dusts his hands off and places his hands in his pocket.

He finally replies looking at me.

"I was thinking about what you said that earlier in the car."

"About that Zayne.... I, I didn't mean any of that, well I did but....

"Leah, its fine, you were right and I was a hypocrite. And for that I ask for your forgiveness. It was never my intention to hurt you, I only wanted to help."

"I went to see the alpha today; but he wouldn't grant me the approval to leave. He says he wants to makes things right between us. He's finally going to take me as his mate."

"Uh, even after I marked you?"

"I don't know what to do, because he controls my thoughts now."

"Although my brother is a selfish asshole sometimes he does have a good heart. And you two are connected by his wolf, I do believe he wants to make things right."

"After all this is what we wanted."

"Please don't say that." I'm so confused. I shake my head.

"No, I've felt this way even before that night.

"Leah, I'm not your mate......and we can never be together. "Besides after my brother marks you, the bond between you two will grow stronger."

'Cm
