Playing With The Alpha

The next couple of days in the house went by uneventfully and today was the day we would be leaving. The alpha hadn't told me exactly where we were going; only that it was far. It would be a two and a half day trip but we'll only be there for one. I stood over the open luggage on my bed. I huff and forcefully pound the clothing inside.

A knock comes from the door and it opens it Zayne. He walks in and shuts the door behind him.

I jokingly state. "You know you shouldn't be in here. If Randi saw, he'll have a fit."

Zayne shrugs his shoulders and places his hands in his pockets.

"I don't care. Besides he isn't here and won't be until six."

"You know you don't have to go?"

"We're dealing with Randi here. I'm Sure I do. Besides if you're so worried why don't you come?" I stop and look at him.

"I can't. With the beta and alpha both gone, someone has to stay here and take charge and that's usually me."

"Give me the four-one-one?"

"I've only been to one before. When Randi and I were children and our farther was alpha. He wanted us to experience it, so when one of us takes the position we'll be prepared. It's an annual gathering. All the important packs leadership come. Laws are made, new guidelines. But because this is an emergency meeting who knows what could happen."

"What will they do to me?"

"They won't be allowed to touch you because you are his mate and it's against our laws to harm a human if there is no threat, but still it doesn't guarantee your safety. That's why I don't think it's safe for you."

"I'll be fine." I finish packing the last bit of clothing I had left and zip my suit case up. "Besides he probably won't even let me leave his side once we get there." I continue.

Now moving my things to the door. "Let me help." Zayne says getting up.

"What?" I question the odd look.

"Let me take you somewhere." he suggests placing his hands in his pockets.

"Where? Besides I don't think it'll be a good idea to leave now."

"Trust me."
