We've done nothing but drive, and occasionally I found myself dozing off, only to be awaken by the alpha's neurotic driving I sit up straight.
I look toward the window and I couldn't tell by the dark gray sky if it was early in the morning or dawn.
My stomach growls as I rub it to silence it. "Are you hungry?" Randi asks looking over his shoulder at me for a second. Hungry was an understatement.
I watch as he takes out his phone and dials someone. "We'll get off at the next exit. Let the others know." he instructed before hanging up. Moments later the car comes to a stop and he parks in front of a diner that was lit with red and blue lights. I eagerly open the back door and step down onto the damp ground, waiting as the alpha joined me and together we head inside. The sound of a bell rings as we enter catching the attention of those who were already seated. It wasn't many only about five other people plus the workers but the way they stared at us, particularly at Randi made me feel uneasy.
"There." he says as he points to a booth near the window. He places his right hand on my back and guides me to our seat. We both sit down opposite of each other. I immediately turn to look out the window feeling a bit awkward and notice the others finally arriving and heading inside.
"Morning, strangers! Where'd you two come from? I've haven't seen you around here before." A plump young woman, with blonde hair slicked back into a ponytail holding a small note pad to her chest appears in front of us.
"We're just passing through."
"So, what can I get'cha?"
Randi orders. "I'll just have a coffee, black with no sugar."
"Would you like to try today's special, like our wolf man burgers that comes with any topping of choice, fries and large drink with a slice of our blood moon pie," I look to the alpha who wore an amused look on his face at the irony of the dish names, "But don't worry it's just regular cherry pie." she whispers and laughs at the last part.
"No thank you, just coffee please." he says.
She nods and turns to me "Alright and as for you missy?"
"Oh I'm actually not sure." I say looking from the waitress to Randi for help. He turns to her and slightly smiles but not enough to show any teeth, "She'll just have the special, thank you."
"What type of toppings would you like on your Burger miss?"
"Uh, anything is fine."
"Okay, and as for your choice of drink?"
"Just water Please." I fake a smile, which she kindly returns. "Alright, your food we be ready in about fifteen minutes and I'll be right back with your-" she pauses to take a quick glance at her notepad "Black coffee with no sugar." she smiles before heading off.
"Thank you."
"For what?" he ask.
"For stopping here....I guess." I lightly shrug my shoulders.
"You're welcome." he replies, his eyes finally land on me and a smile of pride graced his lips.
Then an uneasy feeling builds up inside my stomach. Darting my eyes past him I notice the restroom sign further back. "Excuse me!" I say standing up and he stands with me.
"What's the matter?"
"Nothing, I'm just going to the restroom." I tell him, pointing to the sign. He turns to check. He slowly sits back down and nods as if he was granting me the permission to go.
On my way I unintentionally bump into someone coming out from the men restroom. "Oh, I'm so sorr....." I started to say, but stop.
The stranger stood at least six feet tall, but that wasn't what caught my attention. It was all those scars, four deep gashes from ear to ear on his bronze colored skin. He looks at me intensely
