*With Sanji, Nami, Vivi, and Usopp*
3rd POV
"Why didn't the marines come and help, I wonder?" Nami questions.
Sanji walks up to one of the skeletons and touches it with his foot. "I think they did. Look."
He points to the skeleton that had dirty rags on its bony frame. If you looked close enough, you could just make out the word 'Marines'. Since it was dark, it was even more difficult.
Vivi gasps and Usopp shivers.
"I guess the Marines met the same fate as this island and it's people..." Vivi trails off, her voice holding horror and sadness. She thinks of her homeland, Alabasta, and if she doesn't do something...her people could meet the same terrible fate as Mei's people.
"W-why didn't a-anyone b-bury them?" Usopp mumbles.
"Most likely because anyone who came here at that time died," Nami states. "How did Mei not die, too?"
"Because. I wasn't here."
The four Straw-Hats jump at Mei's sudden appearance.
Sanji regains his composure first. "Why?"
Mei shrugs. "I left here when I was 8. I hated it here."
Everyone gapes at her. "8?!"
Mei rolls her eyes. "Yes."
She blinks as if remembering something. "Oh. I found moss head, too." She reaches into the darkness and grabs Zoro's collar of his shirt, yanking him towards her.
"Oi! What the hell was that for?!"
"You would've walked off never to be seen again." Mei states bluntly. "Anyway. Everyone should probably get some sleep. We leave tomorrow night."
Nami tilts her head. "How do you know when it's morning, midday, or night?"
"You heard of Enies Lobby? It's a marine base. And it's always daytime. You look far enough on the horizon and you can see what time of day it is. Right now..." Mei points over the trees. "It's about 11 pm. The Log Pose will be set by 6 or 7 pm tomorrow. Be ready by then."
Zoro sighs. "That means be need to find Luffy."
Everyone but Mei sighs.
"Well, lets go and-"
"That's easy." Mei interrupts. She takes a deep breath. "THIS MEAT IS FUCKING DELICIOUS, SANJI!"
0.273 seconds later they hear, "MEATTTT!!!!! SANJI COOK ME MEAT!!!!"
The crew look at Mei.
She shrugs. "He's obsessed with meat. He's that obsessed it's quite unhealthy."
A while later everyone ate and went to sleep. Mei, however, decided to go back to her safe place. Her favourite place. The oak tree. She lays on the branch and looks up at the stars.
Just another little chapter. Next one will have what happened with Zoro while this chapter was happening.
