Chapter 12

We were heading south east, in what looks like the direction of the Sea. I loved the sea, and was excited to get moving in the mornings. It drove Levon (who was not a morning person) crazy.

“Would you stop that?” he said to me after I had tugged on his sleeve the one hundredth time

“No” I said he growled at me

“We will start moving when we are ready Layana! If I had known you’d be like this I wouldn’t have let you know what direction we were going”

“If you knew I would be like what?” I said to him. That particular remark hurt my feelings and I knew I was probably pouting. Zevvran was chuckling behind me, but knew better than to involve him in this conversation. Levon scratched his head

“Well… um you are kind of…” my eyes narrowed and I brought my face closer to his

“Yes Levon? Go ahead and say it” I said in a dangerous voice. He swallowed. I knew that by now Zevvran was probably having a heart attack laughing.

“Well you’re just so… happy” he said nervously

“And how is happy a bad thing Levon?” I said in the same dangerous tone. Now Amarie was also trying to keep her laughter contained.

“It- it isn’t! I just meant- it… I-!” I laughed to myself and pulled Levon into a hug

“Leave me to my happiness child” he swung me in a small circle and released me

“Maybe we should go” I smiled and Zevvran helped me onto Zevvarian. We traveled slowly that day. Mostly just talking and laughing. We found a perfect campsite and settled there. I was busy tying grass into knots when Amarie came over

“I thought we could go over the third prophecy tonight” she said, plopping down beside me

“That would be nice” she opened a scroll and with a smile she began

“The third prophecy of Roracc Cleinth;

One day during the nights of winter a servant girl went to feed Roracc when she found him in a heap on the floor. Frightened she shook Roracc until he rolled over and revealed glassed over eyes. Stifling a scream she jumped back and put her hand to her mouth. Roracc slowly sat up and said in a dark voice

‘The Red one gathers friendships in her hands like she gathers love. Six friends, three silver and three gold. The six stars will guide the red one on her path into the direction of righteousness. The Red one should be wary, for there are pretenders and there are liars. The first four of your party are good and right; the Fae, the Maven, the Arl, and the boy. The other two are uncertain, but still numbers of the six. Watch the stars, the seven will come, the seven will prevail”

I looked at her

“Wow” she looked shocked.

“All this time there was a prophecy to tell you who would be right in the group…”

“Who are the seven? And watch the stars? That is all really confusing”

“If I could add something?” Zevvran said from behind me, causing me to jump

“Yes?”

“I have a story that may clear a little up for you. You see when I was a young boy, before I knew about you I was fascinated with this one constellation in the sky. It was a circle of gold and silver stars that surrounded a bright red star” he glanced at me “they were called the seven, and people were not allowed to learn about them, because of that prophecy that you just read” Amarie looked at me, and then back at the scroll.
