Chapter 15
“Where are we going your Majesty? Or do you not wish to tell me?” I sighed. Silvia was back to rhyming I guess. How strange.
“I’ll tell you where we are going, if you explain why you rhyme” she smiled
“It is a curse laid upon my family, we have to rhyme, and fighting it does not work easily. But if we are home in our city, we don’t need to rhyme, we just look pretty” I sighed
“That is going to get annoying” she laughed and shrugged her shoulders, swinging her feathery hair.
“If you must know, we never actually know where we are going. Tis Levon who guides us on our path.” I said, She sniffed
“Levon has the stench of death upon him, even with your blessing we can see deaths hand on his shoulders, leading him” I nodded
“Mortrelle is a pain when it comes to Levon, but even though he carries death within him, he is filled with light. I can see it child, do not pretend to understand” she nodded and ran a hand with talons hand through her hair. Levon looked at me with hopeful eyes. I smiled at him
“Anyone to question him, questions me” Levon smiled gratefully at me, and I looked down at my palms “and they question Anaista” that left no room for conversation.
“What is your horse’s name?” Amarie asked, breaking the silence. Silvia smiled
“She is not a horse; she is Hreadalle a companion of the Jae. Her name is Deana, and that is how it will stay”
“Hreadalle? I thought their race died out”
“That is what you were led to believe; the Hreadalle came to us after they realised the threat humans were to their race. It has been our job since to keep humans out of this place” I nodded
“Makes sense.” She laughed and we continued riding. I actually knew where we are going, and I wasn’t planning on telling anyone. We were going to the city of magic; a fortress guarded by a large amount of Guardians. Magic has always been feared, and since the rule of the Guardians began, it was illegal to not make your magic known and avoid living in the city of magic. I heard that the Magic users had a lot of fun there. The only problem was they were never allowed to leave, and that usually caused problems with people. That is why there are so many Guardians there. I couldn’t tell the others though, or I would risk throwing off the plan. We rode all day in silence. I think we were mostly avoiding listening to Silvia’s rhyming. We found camp just before sunset. Once we were all set up, Zevvran went to gather firewood Levon and Amarie huddled together and Silvia and Veara glared at each other from a distance, the Sisters of Jae and the Faery folk do not get along well. I slid into my tent and tried to think. The sky went dark and after a while I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
We rode faster than we ever felt the need to before. We discovered that we were being chased by a storm, that looked treacherous, and we wanted to be indoors in time. As we rode our horses at insane speeds, I turned back to look at the storm. Black clouds swirled and lightning struck the ground angrily. The rest of the group were talking hurriedly. I smiled and pulled onto the energy of nature. I reach a hand out and pointed a figure at the clouds
“regahy” I whispered. The clouds were being stubborn. Smiling at the challenge I repeated the phrase and flicked my fingers at the clouds. They shuddered a little, but otherwise didn’t move. I smiled, closed my eyes, and raised both hands to the sky.
“Regahy mal ta!” I said firmly. the clouds shuddered and parted around us. We wouldn’t be bothered by the storm tonight. I smiled triumphantly and turned to see Silvia watching me with wide eyes. She looked up to the sky and then back at my raised arms. Her mouth dropped as she saw the skies part and make a clear path for us. I met her eyes and she bowed formally to my, while sitting on her Hreadalle
