*Kat's POV*

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket just as I sit down at my desk. I open the message real quick to see it's from River:

"Come by my place after you're done with classes, there's something I wanna ask you."

I text them "kk" and quicky put it back in my pocket just as the teacher walks in.

"Settle down now, please. Now before we start, Kat I'm supposed to tell you to please make your way to the office in the rec building. You'll be going there with another student so it's not like you're in trouble."

It still felt a bit weird being singled out like this in class but I still kept some of my self-confidence as I walked myself out of class. As I step out into the hallway I hear another door close behind me and I see Hatsume exit out her class too.

"Oh hey Kat! We're you told to go to the office too? What do you think they'll want with us? Ooo I'm excited!"

"I have no idea, Hatsume. I guess we'll see when we get there."
I put a little bit of distance between me and her, allowing her to continue talking to herself more now than to me. I respect her and her work but sometimes she can be a bit much. My mind starts to wander as we make our way towards the rec building, Hatsume's chattering fading into background noise as I start thinking about things.

The big thing I start thinking about is what happened last week. I finally built up the courage to try and ask out someone for the first time, Amajiki. I had a crush on him since my first year here and after I got my own place I decided to just try and see what happened, with Nejire's help as the messenger. The answer she came back with wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear though;

"He says he's sorry but he can't. He wants hero work to be his main focus right now and that...he doesn't really see you in that way. He's really sorry about this."

Those words still run through my head sometimes and I'll be honest, I was a little hurt by them. After thinking about it though maybe things wouldn't have worked out so well between us, we were too similar and River said that because of that maybe the relationship wouldn't be able to progress because we'd both be too scared to do anything.

I'm jolted out of my thoughts as Hatsume starts waving her hand in front of my face.
"Hey, we're here! Dozing off again we're you? Hehe"
I roll my eyes a bit as I open the office door without responding to her. Inside is Principal Nezu, Recovery Girl and Power Loader.

"Hello, you two. Please take a seat, make yourselves comfortable!" Nezu gestures to the empty cushy-looking chairs across from them, waiting for the two of us to sit ourselves down before he begins talking again.

"I know you're wondering why I called you two here and you're also wondering why I have these two with me. Out of everyone in the support course, you two have higher scores than any other students by quite a bit. High enough to where I think you two can jump into doing some internships or start shadowing some teachers here. I think these two here with me would be the best in helping you two expand your talents and get a head start into your hero careers!"

Hatsume was already starting to get excited, talking about how much more she could work on her creations now. I on the other hand was still surprised that I was apparently one of the top students. I didn't think I was doing so good, I thought of myself as pretty average when it came to schoolwork.
