*River's POV*
A couple weeks passed since the attack without anything else crazy happening. Students and teachers were using the down time to get everything settled down again and to recover before the sports festival was to begin. In the meantime the students were to work on improving themselves to train for the upcoming event. Since Aizawa was in the hospital after his beat down, he put me in charge of the class until he was able to come back.
"You'll only have to do it for a couple days at most, maybe not even that much. Just take them to the training area and really help them push themselves to their limits, not much actual teaching going on with the sports festival coming up so I'm sure even you could do it."
I begrudgingly accept it because knowing Aizawa if I didn't he'd make me join the class and proceed to kick my ass in front of everyone, since without my quirk I can't really do anything. I manage to not be late this time but all the students were already in class by the time I make it to 1A and to my surprise the first person I see is Kat.
"Woah, Kat! I didn't know you'd be here today, that's cool."
"Yeah I was told you were doing training today so...here I am!"
"Awesome. Alright now I'm gonna be honest here class, I'm not one for the whole 'teacher' thing so pardon if I suck at this. With the festival coming up Aizawa told me to help you guys prepare for it in some way and I think I have just the thing to do it. Let's make our way to one of the large training areas, were gonna need a lot of space for this."
As the students shuffle out of the room with me and Kat following behind them, I give Kat's arm a little tug.
"Hey, you wouldn't happen to have learned how to make anything with caffeine in it would ya? I'm trying to cut back on energy drinks, I can feel the hatred from my kidneys when I drink them."
She rummages around in the small bag she carries with her that I'm guessing is full of all kind of mixtures and medicines.
"I knew you'd ask me for something like that someday so I do have something, just give me a bit to find it. You're gonna make them go against something big huh?""Yeah and I don't wanna be asleep for the next couple of days because of it." She finally finds the bottle and gives me 2 pellets from it.
"You chew these ones and sorry about the taste, I can't change much about it without messing up the whole thing."
As she says that the absolute worst bitter taste I've ever experienced hits my tongue and it's almost enough to make me gag.
"Fuck! That's worse than vanilla extract! I think I'd rather stick to my drinks thank you but keep those for emergencies."I could hear Kat laughing at me as I walk ahead. We arrived at the training area, which was just a huge open field surrounded by tall trees.
"So what the hell are we doing here, huh? Don't know what kind of training we can get from some 2-bit hero like them." I hear the loudmouth blond shouting up a storm and I already know we're gonna butt heads if I don't keep my cool.
"Well, KID, the theme of today's training happens to go with something that you'll need in the sports festival: teamwork. If you can't work together with someone else then you could be at a severe disadvantage depending on who your opponent is. Some quirks work well together while others are a bad matchup and can actually put your team at more of a risk. Today, you can use this activity to figure these things out and maybe apply them in the festival events and in the future."
"Does this mean we'll be fighting against you?" A girl with short brown hair asked, I believe her name was Uraraka.
"Against me? No, myself I would fall to you guys pretty fast. With my quirk though, I can give you all a common enemy to fight against."
