*River's POV*

The soreness and pain hit as soon as I woke up, covering almost my entire body. I let out a groan as I try to sit myself up, the movement alone was enough to get my muscles screaming so I let myself fall back against the bed.

...bed?

I shot back up, ignoring the pain momentarily as I got myself to my feet. Almost immediately though I felt lightheaded and my legs gave away, dropping me to the floor of my apartment.

"How the hell did I get back home?" I muttered to myself. I look over and notice a piece of paper along with some bottles sitting on top of my dresser. I inch myself closer to it until I'm able to reach up and grab the paper, not bothering to get myself up from the floor in case I actually pass out. I could tell right away that Kat wrote the note:

'I brought you back home while you were out. I had to use some of my knock-out vials on the villain before he slammed you on the ground again and it got you too. Sorry about that :(
Oh and that man said he'd take care of the spider guy and that he'll send your payment to you when he's done. I left some medicine that should help you feel better and don't worry, I'm fine and I didn't get us into any trouble. Feel better! -Kat'

I let the paper drop onto the floor and feel around for the bottles until I grab one of them. I look around and grab at the closest drink to me, a definitely now flat energy drink, and down it along with the meds. As my head was starting to clear up a bit I decided to look at the damage and lift my shirt up just a bit to under my chest.

So many fresh bruises were blooming across my skin, nasty shades of blues and purples which made it almost impossible to see my actual skin color. Barely touching it started the pain back up and I highly suspected that I cracked a couple of ribs too. "Fucking bastard, throwing me around like a ragdoll. Would've shot him if I could just for that."

I feel around my head to make sure I didn't crack my skull or anything. I could feel a bit of dried blood but otherwise nothing serious, just a good smack to the head along with the rest of me. Using the dresser to steady myself, I pick myself up until I'm standing again and make my way back to my bed. I get myself there no problems and grab my phone, noticing the date.

"I was out for two full days?!" I check my messages and see a bunch from a few people:
One from Kat assuring me that she told U.A. that I'd be gone for a couple days.

One from Giran confirming my part of the payment was dropped off at my place. I look over at my mail slot and notice a couple envelopes on the ground.

A bunch from my online buddy Scale which judging my his most recent texts was starting to freak out about where I was. I shoot him a short message saying that I'm fine, just got busy.

The last couple of messages surprisingly were from Aizawa. One of them was dated yesterday and the other was from this morning. I've never seen him use his phone unless...

'unless it was an emergency.'

I could feel my nerves kicking in, my heart already ready to jump out my chest and my hands starting to shake. I open the message and read it over, my breath catching in my throat as I finish reading it:

'Kat didn't show up to class this morning. We went by her place to see if she was there since you weren't feeling well but she wasn't there either.'

The second message dated today said:
'She still hasn't showed up. We already contacted the police. Get in touch with me as soon as you get this.'

"FUCK!" I throw my phone down and not caring I was in my casual clothes or about the pain I run towards the door, throw it open and leap myself off the railing, spawning my wings. I didn't have my harness on so I grabbed onto them and held on as tightly as I could as I made my way to Kat's place.
