Chantel's POV:

"Stay still, this will only hurt a little bit."

I tried fighting back but I was outnumbered by people who are dressed in hazmat suits. I was still worried about Angelie going outside without me, but she needed some time to regain herself which I understand. Yet, here I am, being held by a group of people.

"Who are you people and what are you doing here?!" I grunted in response to the one standing intimidatingly in front of me.

It brought out a syringe that has a long needle in it, they pointed the syringe's direction to my neck which made me thrash around even more. I harshly stepped on the foot of the person from my right and they yelped in pain. I made that my cue to break the grasp from my right arm. I used the remaining person as leverage to the one pointing the syringe at me.

"Don't move." I threateningly said and it just stood still.

I was so close to escaping and getting Angelie from outside but then I felt something pressing against the side of my stomach. I looked down and saw a gun in the hand of the person I was holding.

"What now, Remnant? Let go or we will do this the hard way." It wickedly grins.

I clenched my jaw and straightly punched the person in the stomach, the gun they were holding flew into the air. I ran to get the gun until it was finally in my hands, I shakily pointed it at both of the hazmat guys.

One move was made by the one holding the syringe and suddenly more of them appeared from the backdoor. I slowly moved back but then I felt a presence standing behind my back.

"The hard way then."

"GODDAMNIT, FOR THE LAST TIME, WAKE UP!"

A cold liquid being splashed at me woke me up from a dream that seems too real. I gripped the person's wrist as an instinct, I might still be in those hazmat guys' game. I opened my eyes and I immediately adjusted to the light around me.

"What the hell is wrong with her?! I TOLD YOU SHE'S DANGEROUS!"

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and my eyes went to the person sitting down next to me. She was frowning and was looking at her wrist that I forgot I was still gripping harshly. I let go and she started to say something in foreign words.

"Hey, it's fine. We will be safer here."

I shielded my eyes from the sun and looked up at the person standing up. It was Angelie. I gasped and crawled to her leg to hug it. I sighed deeply when I felt the same warmth I always feel when she's around.

"Um...I'm just gonna..."

I heard Angelie laugh before bending down to greet my eyes searching for hers, then she gently caressed the top of my head.

"Sorry, that was Anne. She helped me get you away from the Council."

I was completely blocking what she is saying because I still can't move on from the thought that she got taken away. I was on the verge of getting teary-eyed but that all went down the drain when Angelie softly lifted my head and rested it on her lap.

"Shh, it's okay. No one can reach us here." She whispered as she goes back in caressing my hair, which is all I wanted right now.

"I-I thought you got taken by them..." I shakily said that earned worries from Angelie's eyes.

"Yeah, they did. My father banished me from where I live."

I was the one looking at her with worry right now. I delicately held her hand in my still shaky state, which I can't seem to stop or control. "How did you find me?"

She sighed and glared far ahead. "You got taken into one of those labs in the Council, also known as where my mother used to work."

The Council isn't new to me because Analise frequently mentions it to me and how they make things work in everything. She said that the people organizing it are much worse than the people living in lower sections.

My head swept to our surroundings and it seems like we are in a less populated area. I also can't see houses, trees, and the ocean, which means that we are in the middle of nowhere. My eyes went back to Angelie but she was already looking down at me.

"You know...when I saw you inside that body bag, I thought that will be the end of everything. I thought they will also do whatever they did to your big sister, I can't even imagine if I didn't go there and-"

I silenced her to tell her that any of this is not her fault. We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Angelie, what matters is that I am here with you now, and I won't let those people get you away from me again, okay?"

Angelie nodded and she leaned closer to hug me. "You're still shaking."

I released a deep breath and just smiled at Angelie. Right now, I don't have any idea what is happening to my body. I grabbed Angelie's hand to hold it closely around my chest, but then the shaking increased.

"Chantel, you're getting cold."

"H-hey, don't panic, I'm sure I am fine-"

"ANNE! HELP!"
