It was already midnight and the cadets were already asleep on the floor. I scoffed and shook my head, I was the only one still up so I took that as the time to make my way out of here.
I carefully walked away from my post, but not breaking my sight at the asleep cadets. I retraced our steps and I was finally back to a much more bright environment. I went upstairs and first went to where Angelie is.
I walked with a poised posture as I passed a few rooms that has people inside them. I turned to my left and immediately saw their medical room, but there was a problem, there was already someone standing in front of the door.
I swiftly walked back and hid behind a pillar. I occasionally glanced back at the person standing still in front of the door, based on what they are wearing they should be working there as a doctor.
I heard the door open so I went back to look and saw Anne lifting Angelie over her shoulder. I saw how Anne reacted when she saw the doctor but what confuses me is that she willingly let the doctor lift Angelie too.
"I knew you got something up on your sleeves, but this won't do."
A Council doctor is helping them?
I was so ready to run to them but there was something else bothering me, it was Angelie's father. I groaned and went along with the plan occurring inside my head. I went to the right hallway where the holding cells are located.
I used the keycard I swiped from a cadet earlier to enter the room. I released a shaky sigh when it opened without creating a loud alarm. I entered the room and I immediately searched for the familiar face.
Some of the cells are empty, but the ones that have someone inside it are people who look weak and tired.
At the far left of the room, I saw a holding cell separated from everyone else. I went to it and saw Angelie's father laying on the ground in a sleeping position.
"Hey, you're Clyde?"
The old man who has a tiny resemblance to Angelie turned around and nodded his head.
"Alright, so this is what we are going to do..."
"NO! I am not going anywhere without my daughter!" He said in a thick foreign accent.
I told him to calm down but he won't stop murmuring about how sorry he is.
"Mr. Groves, your daughter is safe. In fact, she's getting out of here."
That earned Clyde's attention and he quickly crawled to the ground until he reached the bars keeping him inside. "My Ange is safe?"
I nodded with a smile on my face. Clyde suddenly started to cry, he offered me to take his hand over the bars which I politely obliged.
"Take me back to my daughter, she's all I have."
I tried unlocking his locks with my keycard but it seems like I need a higher rank to unlock a prisoner's cell. I pursed my lips and irritatingly sighed, I tried swiping my card over the reader again and again until it flashed a message.
"Oh no..."
Without even a blink, a couple of security came inside the room with dangerous looks in their eyes.
"Cadet!"
"Don't let them take me!" Clyde whimpered.
"I won't," I promised and smiled at him for the last time before facing the securities.
"Identify yourself." One of them spoke out.
I just remained standing there while giving them a chilling stare. The securities started to bring out their arsenal and eventually pointed it at me.
"Identify yourself, Cadet."
I slowly raised both of my hands in the air making them rush to me but I was way faster than them.
The tall one was about to hit me with the stock of his gun, but I dodged it and it went to the head of the other security who I lured into where I was standing. One of them was already down, but I still have to handle the other two.
"You're committing treason, Cadet!"
"Maybe..."
I smashed his nose with my elbow.
"If you did your job well..."
I bent down to dodge the punch the other one threw at me.
"You might have spotted an impostor right away."
I made both of their heads harshly hit the ground which was enough to make them unconscious.
I lifted myself from the ground and wiped the red stain from my knuckles. I picked up the keycard that fell from the ground and scanned it to the reader.
"W-Who are you?"
I looked at Clyde with labored breaths before giving him a smirk.
"Someone all of you shouldn't have kept in the dark."
"You're a Remnant?"
I opened the gate to his cell and offered my hand to guide him out.
"Why did you call us by that name anyway?"
Clyde gasped but we don't have enough time to entertain each other anymore, for all we know, the whole security team might be marching their way here.
"Take the back to exist, we will be much safer there."
I nodded and let Clyde lead the way. He opened a door and we were back to the outdoors. Clyde pointed to the vehicle parked a few distances away from where we were.
"Let's get you back to your daughter, Mr. Groves."
You have a lot of explaining to do.
