A sick pain in my head woke me up from my deep and peaceful sleep. As much as I want to go back to what I was dreaming of, I have someone to deal with who apparently tried to kidnap and sedate me.

My eyes went around the room and it feels oddly weird like I was invading someone's space...someone should have lived here before. I spotted at least a couple of sketches scattered in the room. I chose to sit up, which made the pain in my head even worse. What the hell did she give me?

I yelped in pain as I held my head sideways. Not even without a minute, a frantic Chantel came bursting open the door. She bent down to the bed and worriedly looked at me, which is weird because she's the one responsible for this.

"Before you get angry with me, I need you to calm down and listen to what will I say. This is now or never." Chantel whispered the last words to herself but I heard it clearly.

She glared into my eyes with so much conviction, I am starting to think that whatever goes out of her mouth will do a number on me again. I deeply inhaled before nodding my head to Chantel.

"Good. We found your pendant, and you have to take me to your section."

I rejoiced about the good news of finding my pendant, but her idea to take her to our section? Does she want a death sentence?

I unbelievably looked at her like she was out of her mind. That is the worst idea I have ever heard, hunters could sense Remnants from a mile away and her chance of survival will be less once she stepped a foot inside our section.

"Based on the looks you are giving me...yes, I am very serious about this idea. I could disguise as one of you-"

I stopped her from talking right there. "No, Chantel. I'm sorry but that idea won't work."

I heard Chantel groan while she buried her head in her palms.

"I need to get access to your laboratory, there must be some kind of stuff to use against her."

I thought about it for a while and ended up with the best idea I could suggest. "Or I could just go in the laboratory alone and report back to you?"

"You're risking yourself too much, Angelie. For all we know, you're already dead when your father realized that you have been spending time with a Remnant."

Right...I almost forgot that I got a so-called family waiting for me. Chantel might be right, but there's no way she's going to the section.

"I...don't really care. They could give me any punishment they want, but whatever this deal you have with your big sister, I know it's much more important and I am here to gladly help you along the way." I smiled and Chantel removed her face from burying it into her palms.

"If that's your choice then I don't have anything else to do but to have faith in you."

I softly patted the top of her palm to let her know that I appreciate what she has said. I brought myself up to the ground and picked up the sketch that was resting just beside my foot. My eyes examined its details and I was in complete awe.

"Who drew this?"

"Isn't it obvious? It was from your mother and she drew your face when you were still little."

I turned to Chantel with a shocked face as I held the paper tightly. I almost cried again as I saw what my mother could do, and how she drew me at the time I was wanting to see her own face.

My fingers traced every line drawn to the paper. A single tear managed to make its way out of the corner of my eye before I could even stop it. I felt a pair of arms envelope around my shoulder as I cried again.

"Growing up, I always look up to your mother. I always kept thinking those days that someday I want to be as strong and independent as her."

"Can I keep this?"

Chantel nodded. I folded the paper carefully and put it inside my pocket. Chantel was still holding me tightly inside her embrace. I can't deny that being between her arms made me feel so relaxed and calm.

We stayed in that position until the door was busted open by a troubled-looking teenage boy. He was panting like he was about to collapse so Chantel immediately walked to the boy and asked him what was wrong.

"I-It was your sister...a fisherman has caught her lurking in the woods."

The woods. Her sister must have made her way back to that ancient ship. Chantel faced me with so much panic on her face that was new to me. This must be really serious because I am sure as hell that her big sister is big bad news.

"I am afraid that we are too late, Angelie..."

I worriedly grabbed both her hands to help her collect herself together. "Hey, we can figure it out. You are not alone. I am here, remember?"

Chantel took a deep breath before telling the teenage boy to sound the bell, or whatever that is. The boy quickly took off and then we were alone in the room again. Chantel fished something from her pocket and showed it in front of me.

"You should hold onto this."

I shakily grabbed the once missing pendant and stared at it like it is the missing piece of my life. Chantel helped me clasp it around my neck. Once it was safely around my neck, I held it like I used to and closed my eyes.

"We're bringing your sister down."
